It was a mistake to tell her of the imminent visit to Dr Christie ...... we've heard little else since!  She won't leave it alone.   Fortunately she can almost control herself (nagging) so we get breaks between the bouts.  It makes it very hard when you know something interesting is on TV ..... and there's no way that you're going to be able to listen.

#1143 Tuesday 28 April

She's been so cheerful and happy tonight ..... it's been such a good time to watch her.   Even though she is a huge challenge for us, she gives us so much pleasure.

I told her that she will be going to see Dr Christie on Thursday ..... and she's over the moon!   So excited!

The strange absence of appetite continues ...... she's not very hungry at all!  Of course this is quite a good thing but we just wonder why.

One possibility is that it's a reaction to antibiotics..... she has some skin sores that the doctor is treating with antibiotics.   We know that Naomi has a bad reaction to some antibiotics so it could well be that Kaylia does too .... and there's no way for us to know.

She's in a cuddly mood ..... and her appetite is down.  She doesn't seem sick but she's not in her normal groove.  Strange.

I heard an interview on the radio with families who have lived in Gallipoli for generations ...... to suddenly look at the whole Gallipoli scenario from their viewpoint is very disturbing.   They were being invaded ..... their communities destroyed ..... and yet we promote the Australian role as "a noble sacrifice ".  We have been brainwashed with this line for a lifetime.   What for? To justify a needless slaughter .... ordered by callous leaders.

#1140 Thursday 23 April

Home again .... the trip was worthwhile with a number of maintenance issues addressed.

I arrived home to be met by a very excited Kaylia...... when excited she flaps her hands ...... and as I walked out of the terminal, she saw me and began flapping vigorously as she ran to hug me.   It was a good feeling.

Another good feeling today.......  Naomi has been studying for her clinical psychologist qualifications for a number of years ..... and the last stage is her thesis.  She had to submit her research design for approval before the thesis could commence .... and the approval committee has given her an "outstanding commendation " for her project.  She was pleased by this of course but hadn't thought much more about it till she found out the the commendation is quite uncommon .... and very significant.  I think as a really huge pat on the back ... she deserves it!

#1139 Tuesday 21 April

It's been 2 days of toilets ..... no - not in that sense!!  No.... I've been procuring parts to refurbish the toilet cistern hardware.  This is not very expensive but it's time consuming in travel.  It all started with one of the three toilets needing to be fixed .... which made me think that if one needs fixing, the other two soon will need fixing also ..... fix them all at once.   New seat as well ...... and the shop had their recommended cleaner.  Putu says it is the best cleaner yet ..... and I can really see the difference.

#1138 Sunday 19 April

The girl is amazing!!  I've never seen anyone so excited about going back to school!   She talks about it so much that it sounds as if she's obsessing ...... but it's more that she wants to talk about how she feels .... and she can't remember the words she needs ..... so she relapses to a one word utterance.   When we remind her of the words she is clearly relieved.... but she soon forgets them again.  Perhaps we could give her a flash card with the sentence she wants to use.

As we said goodbye at the airport she didn't seem very fussed ..... Daddy's going again ..... so what.

Later:  arrival in Bali was 20 mins early and all seems normal.
