#2030 Saturday 4th July 2020

Seems like ages since the last entry in this blog..... in the interval I had the pleasure of a drive up to Bruce Rock .... with Maxine in her late model Subaru Forester.  The car is a delight and it has all the bells and whistles.  We stayed with our cousin Rob Butler (and Gwen!) .... and had a mini family gathering with cousins that I hadn't caught with for a long time!  ..... including a visit to Tom Lewis.  He's building a Ford model A hotrod.
Tom has invented a beaut device which pulverizes  weed seed behind a harvester.....
Kaylia begins two weeks of school holidays today.  We (Naomi, Kaylia and I) will be driving to Busselton on Monday for two days at the Broadwater Beach Resort......  Kaylia will love the heated swimming pool as usual.  We will have our usual op shop crawl ......
The building project continues ...... the roof is protecting us from the rain ..... and I've begun framing the west wall. The other walls will have to wait till the bungalow occupants depart so I can take the room to bits and reconstruct it.  This will mean adding a top floor with stairs.

Our little family of chooks are growing up!  Two of the three have begun laying eggs.  They are all real characters.... they like to stay close to us.  When I'm in the workshop they will stand close by and watch me.

#2029 Friday 19th June 2020

Winter is biting now...... after the downpour yesterday, this morning was 8 deg......  that might be warm by other standards but for us it's getting pretty cold!

It's 5pm and Kaylia's waiting for Naomi to come home so we can get tea.

This is the current progress on the remodelling of the bungalow. The end result will have the entrance at the side of the building instead of the end of the building..... so that access will be undercover rather than out in the elements.
I'm chuffed about the stairs...

#2028 Tuesday 16th June

The past few days have been a bit of a trial for us..... Kaylia has bad times with her periods and so we all suffer. Po ting.

The little guy at the front door has been spruced up by Rebecca..... doesn't he look good!
The roof extensions are now complete and so work can begin on the alterations under the new roof.

#2027 Saturday 13th June 2020

Woo-hoo!  Our chooks have begun laying eggs.
This is a big day in our house.

Kaylia has performed better this week..... she had a 6 DVD allowance today...... but it didn't stop her from losing one as soon as she got home.

The last stage of the roof is nearly there..... if the weather is kind. The main beams and timbers are in place and I'll fix the rafters tomorrow.  Weather permitting the roofing sheets can be fixed on Monday.

Kaylia with Rebecca and Alberto on an outing this morning.

The next stage.......   the third section of the roof is now done..... one more part to go.
This is the upper balcony.

#2025 Saturday 6th June 2020

Kaylia has done her dash this week...... she used up all her DVD allowance in testing us to see what she could get away with. She was quite deliberate and obvious about it.... she would watch us as she uttered her looping.  She was clearly testing her limits! ..... and so she has NO DVDs this week.  She's ropeable.

The building is progressing well.......
In this photo you can see the balcony between the two buildings and the foof frame being constructed above.  The roofing steel is coming Monday so I should be able to complete this part of the roof this week.  Then it will be just the final bit of roof over the bungalow left.

#2024 Wednesday 3rd June

6am and I've forgotten to put the bins out last night!  Up and put some warm clothes on..... outside and breathe thanks for the bridge and side gate.... and the driveway!  In the old days the bins had to be hauled up many stairs...... now it's a smooth driveway. It's still about a 25 degree slope though.  The heart rate is really pounding by the time I reach the road level with 2 heavy bins in tow.
Now I can go back to bed and not dread the sound of the rubbish truck coming down the street.

The strategy for "looping" control is interesting...... Kaylia is really trying it out.  She knows what she is doing and she tries the limits to see if we will give in.  This week after two days, she has lost eight of the ten DVD allowed!  We've warned her that if she looses more than ten, then she will have to take the DVDs back to the op shop!
