#1794 Saturday 14 April

The school term is over.... and it is very hard for Kaylia to accept.  Last night she had a really hard time going to sleep.....  I eventually stayed with her and she was repeating "school on Tuesday?" over and over.  Maybe she thought that if she said it often enough, it would happen.

At school the last day had been a sports carnival.  One of the teachers commented "I just wanted to let you know Kaylia had a wonderful time today. She joined in every part and we could tell she lived every minute. It was very rewarding to see the kids having so much fun with all the mainstream kids."

#1793 Wednesday 11 April

We really are very fortunate to have such a happy, vibrant and excited teenager!  When I pick her up at school in the afternoon she is always very happy and she wants to talk about her day and her friends .... and about going to school tomorrow!

.... and in the evening she is always happy and cheerful.  The only exception to this is if she has a headache or a tummy ache.

Tonight, it's 7pm.  Naomi is late home tonight ... a meeting at work .... so Kaylia has taken herself upstairs so she can watch through the window for Naomi to come home.  Kaylia is singing away.

#1792 Tuesday 10 April

I'll bet that there's not very many 14 year olds who come home from school and immediately jump into a bubble bath!

#1791 Monday 9 April

It's 5:30am.  Kaylia came upstairs an hour ago.... Wet bed.  Sheesh.  This is after a wet bed on Friday night followed by an almost totally sleepless night on Saturday night...... and now another wet bed.  What's going on?

It's been such a long time without any wet bed nights that I thought we had it beaten. Not so.  We take her to the toilet at 10pm so it seems that we have to stop any drinking after tea time as well.

#1790 Friday 6 April

Life is busy .... and the blog suffers!

Now that we are without an aupair, I have to do the school runs.  This means that I can't start the office stuff till I get back from school at around 9:15am ..... and I have to cut short other activities and head to school by 2pm.  She is released from school at 2:45pm and we get home around 3:30 ..... then she usually wants a bubble bath!

She is still wearing her back brace all day.  This is one situation where her high pain tolerance is an advantage as the brace must be uncomfortable.  The edge of the brace leave indentations on her skin and it is clearly hot to wear.  ..... but she doesn't complain.   She probably has a few more years of wearing it.

We have another few days booked at the place in Busselton that Kaylia loves.  We will be there for the first week of the school holidays.  We've found a house-sitter who will come and stay at Cook Street to look after Teddy.

#1789 Tuesday 3 April

I had the colonoscopy this morning..... no problems..... Sigh of relief!  Of course that means that the period of fasting was over and we headed for junk food!

The afternoon was spent cuddling with Kaylia.  I was recovering from the anaesthetic.... and she had a pupil-free day.... a break from school..... so she appreciated the opportunity for concentrated "daddy time".   Lots of tickles and lots of talk about school tomorrow.

#1788 Monday 2 April

We're meeting with Aunty Nettie and Kaylia is having a late birthday....

Kaylia is very pleased with her presents.... lots of bling...... and several varieties of bubble bath!

She's becoming much more interested in actually wearing the bling these days..... it's no longer just dingle dangling.
