#2009 Saturday 4th April

We had a burglar last night...... A furry one with a long tail!  This morning we found that a kangaroo had raided the supply of chook food....
Later I found the culprit asleep in the garden.  It was our retired roo.  It's clearly an old roo that's near death and it stays near us where it can get food.

I'm home again after my stint in hospital to receive radioactive iodine to zap the cancer.

#2008 31st March 2020

I've been receiving some emails from people concerned about my health situation so I thought I'd post about me for a change!  I'm in Charlie's atm... waiting for the second Thyrogen injection prior to admission tomorrow.  This makes my body hungry for the radioactive iodine that I will receive tomorrow.  The iodine seeks out any cancer cells in my body..... and will zap them.

Kaylia?  She's still 'looping' madly but or tactic is that she can loop as much as she wants in her room..... but any looping outside means that she is banned to her room.  It's very effective.

She still has this week at school.....  and then school closes.  We are taking on an aupair again to help us cope...... Becca and Bert from Italy.  They exit quarantine this coming weekend and will join us then.

Phew!... It's done.  It's a painful injection into the buttock.  Fortunately the next stage is just to swallow a capsule.  And then I will be literally radioactive for a couple of weeks.  No contact with anyone!

#2007 23rd March 2020

Today our hens came home!
we have 3 hens.....  Plymouth Rock breed.

The plan is to have our own egg supply.
Kaylia has looked after chooks at school and she says that she likes them.  Time will tell.

#2006 21st March 20

Kaylia is growing up!  She has been throwing out all her baby things and clearing her shelves.

#2005 Sunday 1 March 2020

The year seems to be flying past..... Kaylia is often looping on "Bali at Christmas" and it's a daily battle to keep it under control.  Of course with the Corona virus in play, it's very much in doubt that we will be able to go this year.  It will be very difficult to explain this to Kaylia.

We try and divert her with expectations of the next trip to Busselton..... but even that falls short of her ideas because we couldn't get a booking at the resort she loves.  We'll be going to the Metricup place that we stayed at last year..... It has a huge spa bath so hopefully she will be satisfied. We like Metricup as it's very quiet and we can take Teddy!

I'm loving my "new" Kanga loader.... I didn't realize how much I'd missed having one.  It's very useful for my projects around the house.

#2004 Tuesday 18th February 2020

Kaylia is loving that she's back at school ..... her world is in order again!    It's always a delight to me that she does enjoy school so much.... it's a huge gift that we gave given her.  The years of driving from Darlington to Ballajura twice a day have been worth it .... it's a 40 minute drive each way - 4 times a day ... 120 kilometres per day .... 600 kms per week.  it all adds up .... but it means that she will not have a lifetime of remembered bad experiences.  Her memories are very happy ones.

(At her graduation from primary school)

..... and this is today at Ballajura Community College where she's in Year 11

#2003 Tuesday 11th February 2020

Phew .... she's settling to sleep!  It's 8:30pm and Kaylia has been very stressed out.  It's a combination of school plus period upsets ...... after a dose of painkillers plus Lovan,  she has calmed down and she is now "back in her groove" ..... she's listening to Sia on Youtube.  She now has a 10" Samsung Galaxy Tab (Christmas) with a gi-normous battery.  It gives her many hours of listening.  She often gets up early in the morning and starts listening.  She's quite the normal teenager in many respects .... but she's still not talking!

Lately she has started listing to Missy Higgins .... and in her usual way, there is one bar .... about 5 seconds ... that she listens to over and over .... and over .... and over .... get the idea?  All the way to school.

Tonight she wanted me to tell her all about our recent trip to Bali ..... and when I reached the end of the holiday recap, it was "Go Daddy!"

Today was a big day for me .... you'll remember the Kanga Kid bobcat that I had years ago?  It was sold to fund the villa in Bali ....  today I brought home a Kanga loader .... the big brother to the Kanga Kid .....it's not new but I will have fun restoring it.
