#916 Saturday 18 May

Kaylia slept well last night and we're having a "lie-in" with iPad etc. Today will be a cruisey day.

3pm We've had a lovely time over at Aunty Maxine's .... a far cry from previous years when we've had to abort visits because of anxiety attacks.  Then we all went to a shopping centre for Subway lunch and Red Dot store for a dingle dangle.  Maxine bought Kaylia a set of headphones .... purple like Mummy's!  .... and she then used the headphones for the rest of the day.
On the way home we stopped off at Whiteman Park.
She's sitting in the driver seat of the front of an old bus.

#915 Friday 17 May

Last night Kaylia was soooo excited to see me at the airport .... she ran across the arrivals hall ..... and she's been so happy since.  It's such a pity we can't "export" our visual memories and save them ..... that was a beauty!

It's now 6am and I've just taken Naomi to the airport .... she will have Friday to Monday break. She needs it!

Evening
Kaylia has had a good day .... but both Naomi and I are 'suffering' ..... having a break isn't really a rest when the stress and tiredness is still there.

#914 Thursday 16 May

All quiet on the northern front ..... I'm looking forward to getting home tonight.

I've finished packing ... I was making sure I had a video to watch on the flight and saw the little video of Kaylia during therapy .... it's a gem .... she is so animated and enjoying the moment.

While I've been sitting outside the airport eating lunch there's been a procession of VW "Thing"s going past ....maybe 20 or 30 of them ..... I wonder what the story is?

#913 Wednesday 15 May

Good sleep last night .....

Today has been a business day .... doing the usual work for two of my external clients .... just doing from Bali instead of Perth.  The work has been broken by some maintenance issues .... Putu told me that the safe in BR3 was not working ..... the button to reset the digital code had vanished!

I stripped the safe and found the broken parts inside the door locking mechanism.  Some 2-part epoxy gum soon fixed it and after this has set, it should be fine.  The safe cost $46 on 12 Oct 11 ..... so repairing it has paid 25% of my airfare!

Evening
I have just watched "Mozart's Sister"  ..... what a sad story.

#912 Tuesday 14 May

Well that was a good night of sleep ..... last night I had a massage that found all the tight muscles in the back and shoulders .... and then worked on them till at the end it felt really good.

This is a "clutching at straws"  ..... a dummy video camera looking at the rear wall. We know that this wall has been climbed over by children as they recover their toys that have come over ..... so it would be a cinch for an adult to climb over too.  Hopefully the sight of a blinking light on a camera will make them pause!

I have plans to install an IP camera to watch the front door.  This will allow Putu (and me) to see the front door via the internet on our smartphone. It is motion sensitive and will also allow me to record video at specified times .... so I can see if the security man is actually on the job!

We have had a long period of paying for a night security person who is rarely on the job ..... of course this could only be checked by actually going outside in the wee hours of the morning ..... so when in residence,  I've been in the habit of doing this!  As a result, we no longer pay for the security service and we will make our own arrangements.

Afternoon .... thunderstorm .... heavy rain and flashes of lightning.  Then it cleared away and the evening was very pleasant.

#911 Monday 13 May

Up at 7 for breakfast in the villa.  Then hit the books .... updating the villa and personal accounts.  Paying villa bills.  I found that my neat way of moving money from Oz to Bali has a glitch .... it uses an SMS authorising code .... and they send the SMS to the Australian format phone number!  This doesn't  work when you're overseas.  It's a problem .... hopefully the bank will fix it in future.

I've been up on the roof this morning to check the waterproofing.  The material used for the first time (by a contractor) was very sub-standard and it has deteriorated in the sun.  Most of it needs to be removed and then re-coated.  This is one of the reasons why we continue to have leaks into the rooms.
The  waterproofing material we have used since seems to be lasting well.  I can see that we will need to keep a log of when waterproofing is done.  What a crazy system!  The Australian colorbond roof is much more weatherproof and would be far better in Bali.  One day (in the distant future!) I will investigate having the villa re-roofed to see if it is feasible.

Jalan ... jalan.  To the butchers to buy steak for Naomi!

#910 Sunday 12 May

Mother's Day .... and I'm not at home to be with the special mother in our life!  We knew it was coming and we had a night out last week instead.

Today has been very quiet .... I spent 7 hours this morning sorting out a complicated accounting problem.  It was the sort of thing where I had to keep going on the work while the 'train of thought' was fresh.  If I left it before finishing, I'd lose my way.
After that was done, it was time for a sleep.  At 5:30pm I've just got back from a shopping trip to Hardy's.  On the way I noted that the "Linga Longa" warung round the corner has a pig roasting on a spit ..... sounds like a treat for me tonight!
