#910 Saturday 11 May

Up at 5am for the airport run (thanks Brynn!).   The airport is very busy .... lots and lots of people.

3pm. The flight was uneventful except that I was put in the exit row .... so I had lots of legroom!  As the plane touched down, the passenger next to me spotted a large "aircraft sized" bundle covered in tarps off to one side of the runway ... far from tourist eyes ..... probably the remains of the plane that crashed recently.
Arrival processing was quick .... and then I found that Made had mixed up my arrival time and he wasn't there to pick me up.  I negotiated with one of the taxi drivers that hover in a swarm outside the arrivals exit ..... and got the same price charged by Made.  The bonus was that the taxi parking is right next to the terminal .... so I avoided the loonng walk from the terminal to the normal parking area!  I might have to consider using taxis in future.

The villa is all ok ..... the water sealing that I worked on last trip seems to have worked .... the wall in bedroom 3 is dry despite daily rain.  Ketut is now stripping and painting.

I've been to Hardies to stock up on nibbles .... and got another set of "Beats" headphones at the same price .... after some stiff bargaining.   This price is almost half the 'fixed' price that these headphones are marked at in the shops.  This pair is purple!

Now it's time for a rest.

#909 Friday 10 May

Last night .... for the first time ..... Kaylia woke and took herself off to the toilet at 11:30pm!  This may seem like a small thing but I have been doing the "loo run" in the middle of the night for years now .... ever since she finished with nappies!  For her to do it herself is a big thing .... YAY!

Evening

It's been a busy day ..... my first pay-day at the office since I landed back in the hot seat.  It all worked well and new systems are being created.  The only real problem is a federal govt website that is as slow as a wet week!  It was clearly designed by a committee ..... It's so bad!

It's now 7pm and Kaylia is happy and noisy!  She's dancing round in her room and singing her head off.

I go to the airport at 5:30am tomorrow .... off to B...... (mustn't say the word)

#908 Thursday 9 May

Each day as tea time approaches, we can rely on Kaylia to be "negotiating" for her preference .... and top of the list is always Nandos!   The list goes something like " ...... Nandos ...... Subway ........ chinese .....". Yesterday had been a hard day at work and I couldn't face cooking when I got home .... so it was chinese ..... and she was very happy.   Her favourite .... and Brynn's ..... is chicken noo noos .... noodles.

Last night was forecast to be a big storm ..... it didn't happen.  Today is shaping up to fulfill the promise however ..... it's very windy!

#906 Tuesday 7 May

Yay! Back to school!
..... but she stayed up till 10pm last night. I hope she copes OK at school.

This is Naomi, Brynn and Kaylia at a farewell staff function last Friday evening at the Dome in Midland ....  it was Sanggar's last day as accountant at the Child Wellbeing Centre.  The important thing about this photo is that Kaylia was there!  Two years ago, this would not have been possible at all .... she couldn't have handled the noise, the people and the disruption.  Now, she can take it all in her stride and she clearly enjoyed herself.  This is real progress!

#905 Monday 6 May

Yesterday was "Aunty Moo Day" .... it's become a tradition. Kaylia loves it.

Today is the last day of school holidays ... "gool" tomorrow. She's looking forward to it. It will be good for us to get back to normality.

Evening
She's had another good day ... I have no doubt that this is due in large part to Brynn's capable care ... Well done Brynn!

Caring for Kaylia is a difficult task .... it can really "do your head in" at times. The wonderful girls that have given us part of their lives do a terrific job.
