#939 Saturday 5 July

It was a strange night .... after a 4am "wee run" I was wide awake and I decided to have some shed-time ..... and Kaylia decided to have some downstairs time too.  After about an hour it was clear the Kaylia wasn't going to settle .... I could hear her from the shed!   So I came inside and we had some snuggle time .... and she settled!  Great.  This is progress ....our plan is to get her to sleep in her own room and this is a good step in that direction.

11:30 at Bunnings.  After a 9am sleep in, Kaylia and I went for a walk round the block .... at her request.  ..... and she complained the whole way.  Once we got home, it was in the car and head for the Bunnings playground.

#938 Friday 4 July

Kaylia at "Signing Club" at school .... for a long time I thought they'd misspelt "Singing"!

We had the regular teacher meeting today .... Kaylia has a good report and is doing well in most things.  Her biggest problem is her lack of awareness of risk factors .. road safety, stranger danger etc.

We met aupair number 18 today.   Kerrie is from Devon UK and is a sports pysiologist.  She will start with us on Monday and stay till October.

#937 Thursday 3 July

I'm not coping well with looking after Kaylia .... I run out of "puff" by the middle afternoon ... and that's when I need the energy.  I guess I'll adjust after a while ... I need to have a midday siesta.

Today Kaylia wanted "bath time" after school ... but she wanted company and wanted me to stay there.  So I moved my favourite rocking chair into the bathroom and had a snooze for a while.  She thought it was great.

Tomorrow is the final day of school before the two week break.

#936 Wednesday 2 July

Well Tuesday scooted past me!  I didn't write much.  By the time Kaylia and I were driving home from school I could barely stay awake .... and as soon as we got home I crashed and slept for an hour.  Kaylia was a gem as usual and played .... every now and then she'd jump on the bed to see how I was.

Afterward she was rewarded by tea at Nandos! Just the two of us .... Naomi was working late.

Air Delaysia have a good sale on so we took the opportunity to book flights in November for a week at the villa.  Kaylia understood what I was doing and was suitably pleased.   The villa has guests booked over the Christmas period .... so we can't do our usual escape.  Hence the early break.

5pm. It has been a very wet, windy day .... and right in the middle of the storm a large crate was delivered ... I got soaked.

Now Kaylia had had cold hose time ... and has moved to the hot bath.  Very sensible!

Kaylia is somewhere in the bubbles.

#935 Tuesday 1 July

Another year bites the dust! Now the round of annual tax returns commences.

Kaylia was very tired last night .... it was a battle to get her to eat her tea ..... then it was up to bed and we all slept well.   Too well .... cos it's another wet bed.

#934 Monday 30 June

Kaylia had a bad night .... she woke at 2am and went downstairs ... and she danced and sang her head off till about 5am. Phew!  The strange thing is that she will probably have a good day despite the lack of sleep.

Today I'm back on school transport duties ... Kat finished with us yesterday and we're now looking for a new aupair.  We have a possibility of another couple arrangement ...  we will meet them this afternoon.

#933 Sunday 29 June

The Sunday routine was upset today .... Aunty Moo was away and we had arranged to be able to visit her "in absentia" .... but when we arrive we found that the house had been locked in an unusual way and we couldn't enter with the key we had!  Naughty Aunty Moo!

Poetic justice prevailed though .... Aunty Moo was at the zoo .... sitting in freezing weather waiting for friends who were very late.

Kaylia is not well today .... she has a flu type thing and she's miserable.  We were going to be going to a special movie session just for kids with disabilities .... but I doubt that she will be well enough.

4pm at Bunnings.   After a miserable start to the day, she perked up after ..... a session under the outside hose!!!!! It was freezing but she wants it.  (She often turns the hot water off in the shower and has a cold shower. She's certainly a strange thing.)  Now she's in the playground.

The forced rest has been good for Naomi .... she really needs a rest.
