#2060 Saturday 5th February

I decided that it was time to trim Kaylia's "toe talons".  In the past she's been ok with this but lately she's become highly resistant.  I put a price/reward on it.  She wanted to go to the op shop so I said "We will go when your toenails are clipped".  It was evident that her resistance was almost a phobia... like the needle had been.  So I used the same technique that Neil had used to overcome her needle resistance.  I sat and waited and kept touching her toes with the clippers... first with them covered, then bare.... talking and getting her to breathe and calm.  After about 40 minutes, the first toe was done.... reward with an M&M.  It took another 30 minutes for the next 4 toes..... with rewards.... and then 5 minutes for the other foot!

The day is VERY hot..42 degrees ... I must be getting old cos this summer seems much hotter than I'm used to. It's too hot in the shed so I stay inside.  I'm so glad that we got the ceiling fixed so the house stays cool..

#2059 Thursday 3rd February

Talk about sneaky hens!  Our three have a kindred bird in the USA who infiltrated the Pentagon.  Our are content to sit on the gate just outside the kitchen door.....

...... where they can look inside and see what their humans are doing.  I've got a bet on.... that it won't be long before they find the "dog flap" and decide that they can come inside.

Today I've been opening a bank account for Kaylia's personal funds..... separate from the NDIS funds.  The process at the bank was long and involved as she is now an adult and I'm acting on her behalf.

#2058 Wednesday 2nd February 2022

Heard today..... "Today is Desmond Tutu day"

Kaylia and I have each joined in a research trial of cannabinoid medicine..... me for pain control in my wrist.... and Kaylia for possible control of anxiety and behavior issues.  There are no guarantees that it will work for either of us.... but it's worth trying.  The dose we take is tiny.... 0.1ml!
Fingers crossed.

The task of getting Bob (the Range Rover) registered for driving on the road... has become a real saga. It now seems that an engineer's report must be obtained because the body is now different to the original.  The guys at AST have it all under control and it WILL be finished..... I just don't know when.

#2057 Monday 31st January

First day back at school..... Yay!  Kaylia's had a good day.

Our three chooks are delightful characters and they like to stay close by me when I'm working in the shed. They can get too close though! Yesterday I was lying on the floor under the Land Rover and one of the chooks came in close to my face... and thought that my eye looked tasty..... so she pecked!  Today I've spent the day with a pad over the eye to allow the abrasion to heal.

#2056 Sunday 30th January 2022

18 today!  Happy birthday.

After a good sleep in, presents were opened..... then breakfast.  Off to op shops and back to Midland for Hogs Breath.

Home again
It's been interesting to watch Kaylia today.... she's been very excited and animated.... more than usual I think.  She's excited about school tomorrow too.
