#896 Saturday 17 May

Something strange is going on with KK ..... since she went back to school for term 2, her stimming has greatly increased.  School is reporting it too.  Last night at tea time she was stimming on her laughter so much that she didn't eat a thing .... and it was her favorite food!

#895 Thursday 15 May

Home again ... home again ... Jig-a-jig jig!  It's good to be home.  I got home about 2pm and when Kaylia came home, she was very happy to see me.

The villa trips are hard work.... this trip more than most with the amount of work involved in the rebuild of the kitchen.

This photo shows what is left of the kitchen .... even this is not usable.  Most of the timber has been converted to dust .... these still have enough  wood to remain in their shape!

What a disaster!

#894 Wednesday 14 May

10:30am  The workmen are here dismantling the kitchen .... what a mess the termites have made.

This is the empty space where the kitchen used to be.   Once again the men are having to use my tools .... I don't know how they would normally do the job.

5pm.  I'm at a nice spot for tea .... but there are too many ants! I'm moving tables.  Fortunately the food was excellent and just right for the BSL.

#893 Tuesday 13 May

Just after midnight .... There's just been a huge electrical storm .... not much rain but very low, very close lightning. Wow!!

Evening
That was it for the night.  It was quite a storm.
Today has been spent finding people to fix the ruined kitchen.  All the moveable items have been taken out and the kitchen  will be dismantled tomorrow ... much of it will be able to be reused.   After removal we'll be able to assess the damage ..... and nuke the termites!

Tea tonight is ayam betutu .... without the rice.  Each meal I record the effect on the BSL.  I'm struggling to find an Indo dish that doesn't send the BSL right up.  It seems that I need to avoid rice and eat as much meat and veg as I can.

#892 Monday 12 May

Rainy start to the day ..... makes it humid after the rain stops.  I found out today that the kitchen cupboards are badly in need of a major repair .... so it's fortunate that I didn't cancel the trip when I found that I had to go to hospital last week.  Having the villa is good in many ways but a real B*&^%# in other ways.  Things go wrong so easily and then they're difficult to get repaired.

Today ..... resting and massage.  I'm still a bit sore internally and I must move carefully.

News from Chris and Lara ....  this is their trip progress so far.

I'm still experimenting with the effect of diet on blood sugar levels ..... last night I had a Guiness and lemonade.  It sent the BSL up to 14!  Next step .... is it just the lemonade? or both? .... I'll test that tonight and have just lemonade.   My aim is to keep BSL below the 7/11 levels.  The effects of diabetes are not acceptable to me and I must avoid those issues like the plague.

Evening for tea at Bona Ventura .... out front .... I'm having steak and vegetables with water tonight ..... the rice at lunchtime sent the BSL up to 12.5 .... so that's off the menu.  Maybe I can have sate without rice?

#891 Sunday 11 May

Today is a very appropriate day to sing the praises of the wonderful person that Kaylia has as her mother .... she is a very lucky girl.

It is a hard thing to be aware of the failings of your parents .. yet this awareness is essential if we are to avoid the trap of repeating those failings with our own children.  It's a hard road to walk .... to tear down your own childhood image so that you can be the parent that your child needs.

I'm at Hardys for breakfast and shopping .... and later a long massage.  All my leg muscles are screaming at me.

Evening
It's been a day of massages .... my leg feels much better for it .... and the multiple tootie massages are very good for the neuropathy that I get with diabetes.

I'm at the Cat and Fiddle to finish the day. The music is good .... Irish lyrics with an Irish accent mixed with Indo!  The audience seems to be mostly Irish too .... they're doing all the right things.
