#794 Saturday 18 January

At 3am I'm awake with aches ... so I've been able to get an extra loo run for Kay-kay ..... so it will be a good night.

Evenings are usually a delight these days .... full of cuddle time and story time and tickle time.  Kaylia just glows with pleasure.  I feel as though we're being rewarded for lasting through all the tough times we've had in the past.

Increasingly I'm finding times that seem like nagging  .... but are actually times when she is trying to "have a conversation" ..... and she doesn't have the right skills yet.  When I turn the nagging pattern into a talk about past memories, she shows relief and pleasure .... and the nagging stops.

Evening:  she's had a good day .... to parks with Lara in the morning .... then home for hose time.  Once Naomi is home from work we go shopping .... then it's more hose time before tea.  And after tea it's upstairs for DVDs and iPad before sleep time.

#793 Friday 17 January

Another double banger night!  Two wet beds .... she slept too well!  Wednesday night she hardly slept and last night she slept too well.  Oh for the happy medium.

#792 Thursday 16 January

It's 3am .... Kaylia and I have both been awake since 1am. I was woken by a spider running along my shoulder .... when I brushed him off he had the cheek to bite me on the thumb!  That woke me up!  By the time I'd found a torch and a can of spray .... search the little b... out and despatched him, we were both thoroughly awake.  .... and Naomi slept through it all.

Now we've given up trying to sleep ... Kaylia's on her iPad and I'm .... well you know.

Evening:

She stayed awake till about 5am .... so it's been a tough day.  Tonight she should sleep well.

#791 Wednesday 15 January

Since Monday we have been trying a reduction in the dose of Lovan .... with good results!  Lovan is used to control the anxiety and reducing the dose by 33% has not produced any increase in anxiety .... instead it has resulted in a noticeable increase in her energy levels. So it's a very good result and we will continue it.

The new energy level had interesting effect on therapy .... her eagerness also increased .... she was really keen to work.

It's so good to see her actually playing .... more and more she is using imaginative play rather than just stimming.   

Afternoon:  the intrepid travelers (Kaylia with Lara and Chris in tow) have just returned from a day at Rockingham.  Kaylia is in fine form  .... much better than me!  I'm suffering from a new medicine which gives me nausea for the first few weeks .... so I'm not eating.

#790 Monday 13 January

5am.  Twice!  Poor thing .... she's sleeping so deeply that she has slept right through it. When she wakes she will be cold and miserable ..... I debated with myself about waking her and decided that while she is so deeply asleep, it's better to let her sleep.  It's going to be a mess to clean up in 2 hours!

5:50.... Make that 1 hour.  I've cleaned her up and she's asleep.  The first load of washing is on .... and it's raining outside! It's a welcome change after the roasting weekend.

4:30pm  ..... in the midst of therapy!  She was really looking forward to today's session ....  she sat upstairs with me waiting to see Alison's car come down the drive .... then she ran outside ...... "Hi Alison!" she yelled.

#789 Sunday 12 January

Another really hot day ..... phew! It was 35 degrees at 9:00am.

1:00pm We've been over to Aunty Mim's ..... Kaylia is having to learn to use full sentences to get Steve to put her programs on the TV ..... now we're at the Midland office for some playtime before going to the dingle-dangle shop ..... and then home.

Evening:

In case anyone has heard news reports .... we haven't been affected by the fires. These were about 20 minutes drive to the east.  We have an emergency plan for a situation where we're threatened by fire .... we will retreat to the Midland office.
