This afternoon we will be having a review of Kaylia's therapy program.  It's going to be interesting to see what direction the program goes.  She's doing so well.  When talking to other people, it's very satisfying to be able to report on her progress.  For years the progress was very hard to see in the short term  .... but now the progress is in big leaps.

#825 Thursday 20 February

Last night after tea we went shopping .... Kaylia was in very happy form and wanted to run down the aisles at Woolies! After being admonished "Don't run!" she then proceeded to walk .... a long way ahead of us!  I finally told her to hold onto the trolley .... which she then did perfectly.  She could have let go and run off .....

This is related to you to illustrate the way that her mind seems to work and the way that therapy has developed this.  She could have just let go of the trolley and walked ahead at any time .... 

#824 Wednesday 19 February

Last night she really wanted to go to Nandos for tea .... after therapy she was just non-stop nagging .... even in the car on the way there.  And then I said "Kaylia, where are we going?" She replies "Nandos" .... and that was the end of the nagging!  It was as though she didn't understand until she had to find that answer.  It's strange the way her brain works at times.

#823 Tuesday 18 February

This morning she got herself ready for school .... then she decided that we were taking too long and talking too much!  So she came and grabbed our hands ... and she says "Mummy ... Daddy .... come to school!"

It looks as though Aupair #17 has been selected ..... Katherina from Nuremberg will join us about April 22.   Chris and Lara will leave on April 29th.

Chris has been painting the house while with us .... doing a magnificent job!  We will have a real monument  to remind us of Chris for the next 10 years.

#822 Monday 17 February

Bewdy .... therapy today. 
Last night she was quite hyper till bed time .... then she was out like a light.  I wonder whether the "hyper-ness" is just excitement about the bed time routine?? .... she really loves the time with us before sleep time.

Later:

It's half way through therapy ... she's having a "tea party" and doing so well.  Her imagination is clearly in use.  Of course the measure will be when she uses imaginative play on her own.

Earlier in the session she had been using the correct  pronouns to describe actions that she and Lara were doing ..... what amazing progress!

She still is having a lot of trouble trying to pronounce words clearly .... some sounds come out slurred together and some sounds are just too hard.  She knows what the word is ... she just can't say it clearly.  It will come.

The full moon is past and she's had a good night again.  Yesterday she was really looking forward to today .... with pancakes and Aunty Moo!  She still hasn't got the idea of using more words ... so it's hard to tell when she wants to talk about it ... rather than voicing a demand. A lot of the time she just wants to talk about it so we coach her to put the subject into a full sentence.  After a couple of goes she can make a passable version and so she gets praise.
