#852 Saturday 2 March

It's been another wet night..... and I'm not talking about rain!
*@#£/ autism! If not for the A she would not be taking the drugs that mean that she sleeps too deeply ....  and then she would have a chance to wake herself up.  Kaylia doesn't like wetting the bed...  every time we go shopping she's asking for nappies.  It's sad.

#851 Friday 1 March

Evening ..... where did the day go?  Kaylia has had a good day with a lot of Daddy time plus lots of Zoe time.  Now we're waiting for Canada to call on Skype .... we're meeting Brynn's parents!  We need to assure them that we're really not ogres and we will take care of Brynn.

Zoe has just taken Kaylia off for a drive.

#850 Thursday 28 February

Yesterday's blog was brief ... Kaylia tends to be pretty "full on" these days and demands attention much of the time.  If she lets you relax, you usually find that she's up to something!  One of her favorite pasttimes is being in the shower and if we don't watch her, she will turn both showers on and turn the pressure right up!  (The bathroom has a double shower arrangement.)  Then she blocks the drain and sits in the water!  I can't blame her as this must be a lot of fun.  .... but I try to do a little bit of water conservation!

For the next few days (till Brynn arrives) I'm "in the hotseat" for collecting Kaylia from school.  I often forget to take her afternoon snack for the ride home .... so today we detoured through Middle Swan and stopped at a roadside vendor to buy watermelon, grapes and cherry tomatoes.  The tomatoes are a passion for Kaylia ... she just 'breathed in' this supply!  They must have been nice.  Then we stopped off at Woolies ..... a small supply of pepperoni stix also vanished!

There's a huge bushfire to the north of Midland today .... the wind is strong so it will be a difficult fire.  There has been a large cyclone in the Pilbara and with the after-effects soon to arrive in the south, the prospects are worrying.

Today I've heard of a new water playground at Hyde Park in the city .... a must for Kaylia this weekend.

#849 Wednesday 27 February

The full moon has had the usual effect  on Kaylia's behaviour....  she was mad as a hatter last night.. and then the spring wound down!   She crashed and was out to it.

Today Deb goes to the airport and flies home to the UK.   Brynn ...  #14.... arrives on 7th March

#848 Tuesday 26 February

Well, the fire didn't cause us much distress after all.  After tea at Nandos, I ventured up the hill and found that the way was clear ..... so I called everyone home.  It was good practice for our fire drill.

This morning we went looking for the site of the fire ..... it was in an out of the way spot but not far in a direct line.  We were fortunate that the wind was quiet.

Kaylia's in the middle if a therapy session right now... I was feeling a bit guilty about not 'doing my bit'...  Then I thought....' we've been dealing with this for six years now...and we've got years to go.... .  It's a survival tactic. '

#847 Monday 25 February

We're at our Midland office at the moment .... there's a bushfire not far from our house in Darlington and we've evacuated just in case. I've never seen the water bombers so close to the house. The fire is about 2kms away from home .... a bit close! It would be convenient if it burnt down .... it'd save having to repaint!

When the call came to evacuate I rushed in and told Deb to go and pack her bags..... it was a moment before she realised that she wasn't being kicked out.... that we were all going! It was almost funny!

..... and I'd turned on the rooftop sprinklers .. Zoe rushed in saying "It's raining!"

Kaylia is having therapy down here instead of at home .... she's happy. When she is feeling good she says "Happy feet!"( as from the film.)

We will celebrate our exile by having tea at Nandos

#846 Sunday 24 February

I think it was a good night ..... I crashed early and was oblivious to whatever transpired .... I have a dim memory of Kaylia coming and going but I didn't really wake.
Today ..... it would be good to get some maintenance jobs done round the house but it's very unlikely to happen .... chalk up another lost battle to the big A.

Funny one! Zoe leaves here soon .... and goes to Bali ..... the day before Nyepi Day!! (Remember the hard time I had in the villa 2 years ago on Nyepi Day?). Ho ho ho! Chortle chortle!

..... and further funnies! The guests currently in the villa that have caused us so much angst ..... they will be there for Nyepi Day! Talk about poetic justice!

It wasn't planned but I'm so glad that my next trip will miss the dreaded Nyepi Day.

Afternoon
We've completed the obligatory trip to Aunty Moo's ... now Naomi is catching up on some much needed rest while Kaylia and I do the round of the usual haunts .... at the moment we're at the Midland office. She gets a range of toys and such to play with .... while I get a comfy couch to lie on and wifi to play with!
After this we will go to the shops to find a new dingle-dangle .... and then maybe go home .... she will then have either a hose session or her new one .... she blocks the drain in the shower recess so she can have a "bath".

Home:
It turned out that she just wanted to go home for a shower ..... then when she was finished there it was "hose time" ..... which is where she is now. And I can here her trying to persuade me to hop under the hose too! Not b... likely I say!
