I was about to tell you about the new couple which were to arrive next week ..... but they've written tonight to tell us that they're not coming after all .... they're going home to UK instead. Boooggeerr!!

#1285 Friday 18 March

Kaylia surprised me today ..... during our post school wind-down time she began shredding a pool "noodle".... I had no problem with that but I mentioned that it woul make a mess and she would need to put the bits in the bin.   I then forgot about it till later when I was putting something else in the bin ..... and saw that she had collected all the bits and put them in the bin!

Once again this is something that would have been completely beyond her not long ago.   Now she can hear the comment .... interpret the meaning ..... remember it ..... and perform the action!  Such a normal thing for a child ..... but for Kaylia it's a wonder.

#1284 Thursday 17 March

Well ...... we have a momentous decision to make ..... actually, the decision is easy but we will have to be very careful about implementing the decision.   

School is going to have a 'sleep over'!!

This will be the first time in her life that Kaylia has had a night's sleep away from us.   It must happen .... but we must do everything we can to ensure its success.

The 'camp' is to happen next Wednesday night .... the 23rd .... and will include her whole class.  It has all the ingredients for a very successful time.

But at the same time, it has the potential to be a bad experience for her. It's a difficult decision.

Wow .... isn't she growing up?

#1283 Wednesday 16 March

It's 4:30pm and I'm relaxing on the lounge listening to Kaylia .... she's singing in the bath.   It's a range of classical tunes which she picks up from the "Classical Baby" series.   

We've settled into a nice routine ..... after I take Kaylia to school I then go home and exhaust myself with jobs till midday ..... then I have a short nap to recover before driving back to BCC to pick her up.  She's always happy after her day.   

Once we get home she chills ..... either in the bath or on the bed.   After tea she has some playtime and then it's time for .... Doctor Daddy!   This is a fun time where I do a careful teeth cleaning regime ..... with Kaylia pretending that she's in the dentist chair ..... she lies on the bed while I sit on a chair ..... with her head in my lap so I can use a torch to get a really good look at her teeth.

#1282 Sunday 13 March

The blog has quiet for a few days .... our home has been in turmoil caused by the aupair departing very suddenly.  We were told last Wednesday evening that she was leaving and she left Friday morning. By adding 2 and 2 we can see that the move had been planned for some time ..... there had been time to secure an alternative apartment in the city!  That and a few other signs point to a few weeks of planning to move closer to her more lucrative evening work at a bar. The traveling into work and socializing late at night was difficult.

Today we have been cleaning the aftermath of their departure from the bungalow ...... plates of mouldy food .... dirty walls and floor.   We will clearly need to avoid being hoodwinked by nice personality in future.
