#208 Saturday 26 March 2011

Happy Birthday Maxine! (Kaylia sang HB over the phone!)

This week has been interesting - some very high highs followed by a frustrating low. During the week Kaylia has been really excited by social interaction! (As you can imagine, for an auty one this is really outstanding!) She was playing with friends at school and really got exciting and 'into' it. This is so good.
Then yesterday she wasn't eating (she's hurt her big toe and maybe she's upset by this) ..... and this morning it was high anxiety mode from about 5:30 on! She started her "shopping" chant while she was still asleep! .... and it just continued. Pain medicine had some effect .... she wouldn't eat breakfast ..... then she decided that the plate of cereals (that Zoe had for breakfast) looked good .... so she wolfed a plate of cereals too! This is a 'first' as she has alway refused cereal in the past.
After filling her tum she was a happier girl. She's off at the swimming pool now .... and then it will be a visit to the doctor (for both Kaylia and daddy) ... then it will be Kym time!

Pleaase excuse the messy writing ... I'm writing left-handed because about 2 hours ago I slipped & fell ... and landed on my wrist. I think I'll go & see the doctor in the morning! I think I've done a good job on it!

Other than that?... Kaylia is good and Zoe is losing stuff!

Last night Zoe went out with Tina .... to a girl's mud-wrestling night! .... as spectators ... they woosed.

#206 Thursday 24 March 2011

Kaylia was awake for a large part of the night again ..... she was beautifully behaved so our sleep was only minimally disturbed. She went downstairs and was quiet ... then came back to bed with an iPod - but kept the sound low.
I hope she is OK at school today.

#205 Wednesday 23 March 2011

OOO wot a night!! Kaylia was a-twitchin and a-scritchin and a Nomi didn't sleep much! (I was downstairs after being kicked out to make room for the itchin, scritchin monster!) Kaylia was finally up and about at 5:30 with "pink iPad" and "big DVD".

Then she seemed to have a serious anxiety attack ... Naomi is the expert at calming these so it didn't last long.

These anxiety attacks are a concern .... they seem to be increasing in frequency ..... they're no where near as severe as the 'melt-downs' that she had till about a year ago when we got the medication balance right .... but even so, the episodes are hard for her ... and hard for us. I feel so powerless ... the only thing that seems to have any real effect is to take her for a drive in the car. Since this is what she is demanding, it means that we are giving in to her demands .... or perhaps we just need to accept that the drive is what she needs ... and go for the drive before the attack builds up!!

The trouble is that it is not always convenient or possible to jump in the car & go .... such as at 3am!

Later: She has a huge bruise on her leg ... possibly from hitting playground equipment. She also has a badly bruised big toenail .... don't know where that came from but it hurts ... if Kaylia says that something is sore, then we know it really is!
(her perception of pain still isn't good)

#204 Tuesday 22 March 2011

It's nearly 7pm and the last half hour has been a serious anxiety attack with K just constantly yelling "car ... car ....". Fortunately Naomi has come home and the cause of the anxiety is gone .... Kaylia is now happy again!
These behaviors make it hard for each of us to contemplate the idea of our individual breaks .... I don't have an answer to this problem.

#203 Monday 21 March 2011

Kaylia has been a regular "giggling Gertie" yesterday .... she's in a silly, happy mood with lots of dancing. This is very pleasant .... but it hasn't stopped her nagging for "shopping"! She has slept well again .... now that she is in a groove of sleeping through the night, we can begin a campaign to get her sleeping in her own room again. Of course with the disruption of a new person (Sally) in the household, this may not be a good idea.

#202 March 20 Sunday 2011

Last night I found some Tramadol left over from my last hospital visit .... Boy! It was so good to sleep without pain. I have about 10 tablets left.
Of course, having knocked myself out, I missed 'the night of the big moon'! Did anyone see it?
Today we will have a Skype call with another possible 'Zoe replacement' ... fingers crossed!

BTW .... What is the soil on the moon called? Regolith .... so I'm told.

Later: It looks as though we have a person to follow on from Zoe! Sally is in Melbourne ... a teacher ... she is flying over in a weeks time.
