#564 Saturday 14 April

Naomi is painting!  Lots of painting.  She's happy .... it's one of her favourite tasks.
Kaylia is stimming! Lots of stimming.  She's happy .... it's one of her favourite tasks.
I'm resting! Lots of resting.  I'm happy .... it's one of my favourite tasks
The program today will probably be "Peek-a-Boo" followed by Macdonalds followed by donuts at Big H.  The usual routine.  Peek-a-Boo is a paid playground place up the road.  85,000Rp for 3 hours - quite good value and it has a big ball pit.  Kaylia spends all her time in the ball pit!
Last night I rode the bike down to Mama Putu's Warung .... this has moved location to a spot that is just a bit far for walking.  I found that the bike ride was 'over-doing it' for me too.

End of Day:
A strange day ... Kaylia didn't want to anything other than stims in the play area of the bedroom .... all day. Naomi got lots of painting done .... and the generator is now operational! There's a bit of tidying to be done but it's basically done.
Plus the lighting changes were done and we now have an entry floodlight. It's been a busy day.

#563 Friday 13 April

I'm told by Made that "Black Friday" is bad luck in Indo too. Fortunately we missed it. It's been a good day. Kaylia had her full routine. Naomi had a panting session ... the bathroom now has a gorgeously bright feature wall.
I had another visit to the fascinating electrical and plumbing shop in Denpasar where I'd found the foot-valve for the bore. This time it was to purchase cable, switches etc for a wiring modification. While in the shop I became aware of the staff hierarchy .... the girls wait on customers, the boys fetch goods for the girls .... and the boss watches everything that goes on!  .....and when the boys fetch the wrong thing .... WHACK!! ... anything the girls find handy is used as a reprimand.  The girls thought it very funny that a bule (westerner) should be in the shop ... especially one who knew stuff!

Day One of the generator installation is over. It's not operational yet ... I wish it was because the power failed this afternoon.
This evening, Kaylia was keen to get something sounding like 'toy'. ..... it turned out to be 'torch' ..... and she had a ball with the torch! She's a show-off!

I've realized that one of the hardest things about caring for Kaylia is her habit of repeatedly asking for the same thing over and over. .... she can have it but she has to keep on asking for it. It drives me mad.

Despite this she is still a delight to be with ..... especially when I remember how she was during past trips.  The timely dose of Lovan makes a world of difference.

#562 Thursday 12 April

Routine. Routine. She has to stick to her routine. Breakfast ... beach .... pool .... shower .... Big H .... Pizza Hut .... and so on. If we are to get much done in the villa we must split the roles. It gets very wearing to have Kaylia all day and because most of the villa work has been mine, Naomi has had 100% Kaylia time. Of course Kaylia thinks that arrangement is great!

The generator was delivered today. Installation will take 3 days so we will be able to see it in action before we leave. The generator came in a BIG cardboard box ..... I put this out the front knowing that someone would want it. Sho 'nuff, within a few hours a guy was out front loading it onto his motorbike! I'm not really sure how he managed it.

I bought myself a comfy "old man's chair" today ..... so I can relax a bit.

#561 Wednesday 11 April

The boring story continues.....
As well as the leaking foot-valve in the bore, some so and so had cut the outside tap off at the front gate! So when I did manage to get the pump working, water gushed everywhere.
This morning our trusty friend Made arranged for workers from the resort over the road to come and repair the bore.

This is the faulty foot-valve. It seems that the resort keeps two shifts of workers available but they only use them as needed so if they're not working at the resort, they're pleased to do extra jobs.

The water system is fully serviceable now (touch wood!) and tomorrow the generator will be installed.

Kaylia is very stimmy and stuck on her routine .... but she's happy and the anxiety is under control. (Ditto for mummy and daddy)

#560 Tuesday 10 April

It's 6am ... I've just returned from the airport after dropping Kat off for her flight to Sydney. What an adventure! The road systems are changing so fast at the domestic terminal that as I left I got lost! I ended up doing a long drive round the runways which exited somewhere near the international terminal. It then took a few detours to work out where I was again. I finally found a familiar road and headed for home .... phew!
In a couple of hours we'll be heading for the airport again to catch our 'big plane' to 'Barwee'. Another adventure in anxiety management while we wait in the departure area.
In Bali!
The flight got a 9.5 from Naomi. Kaylia was a gem.
We arrived at the villa to find that there was no water! The bore is giving trouble and the tank was empty.

#549 Sunday 8 April

It's always a battle to get Kaylia to eat anything at breakfast. Today was no exception but today we had an ace in the sleeve! We usually go for an ice cream in the afternoon ..... so it was negotiation time.
No breakfast = no icecream
At first she tried to call our bluff. Then she realized we were serious. So she ate her breakfast.

We're now at the swimming pool and we have a car trip planned after this.
She's doing her usual circuit .... big pool .... little pool ..... outside pool ....... big pool .... little pool ..... outside .... ad infinitum!
.... and her speed control seems to be stuck .... either skipping or running! We're constantly reminding her .... Walk!

Evening:
She's just realized that she won't be going to school tomorrow! She's angry. She likes school and she doesn't like missing out.
