#1243 Friday 16 October

Kaylia, Hannah and Callum often go for a walk in the evening after tea .... and last night we found out Kaylia's idea of fun!  She tells Callum to "run run" ..... and then watches ..... or let's him pull her along!

She's a sneaky thing at times!!

#1242 Thursday 15 October

It's just after midnight ..... I had woken for the usual reason ..... and I heard a loud, happy Kaylia cry!  Not upset .... her excited noise.  I thought "oops .... she'll be upstairs soon ..... I'd better go down and get her back to sleep."  I went down .... and found her fast asleep!  So either I was dreaming ..... or she was making the noise in her dreams!

In 2 weeks time, Kaylia begins the transition to high school.  Over this term she has 3 mornings and 1 full day at her new school ..... to make her familiar with the place and the people.  Fortunately she will share this with several of her current classmates who are also going to the same school next year.

#1241 Saturday 11 October

Yesterday we had an experience that maybe a warning of future experiences.  We were at the shops and returning to the car .... Kaylia opened her door and got in just as the owner of the car next to us arrived.  Kaylia's door knocked the car  next to ours but of course Kaylia didn't notice.  It didn't deny but did leave a dot of blue paint on their silver paint. The car owner was angry that Kaylia had ignored her and had not apologized.  We had to explain that she has autism and doesn't speak. Of course Kaylia wouldn't have been aware of the door or the angry person.
The problem is that Kaylia appears to be a normal child to most people ..... it's only when you observe her and try to interact that the disability becomes obvious.  This is where we will need to be very protective of her for a long time to come.
