#904 Saturday 4 May

After another good night Kaylia has been very happy and Brynn was able to give her a long session at Whiteman Park. She spent an hour in the "movie room" .... she loves that spot!
The park has been very important to us this set of holidays. Perth is fortunate to have such a wonderful facility.

Now it's 4:30 and Naomi has finished a long day of work.

#903 Friday 3 May

I think the "moon period" is over ..... Kaylia slept really well last night. The influence of the moon on her behaviour is undeniable and quite amazing. I wonder if there have been any studies done?

This morning I was remarking to Brynn on what a great change there has been in the past 18 months since Kaylia reached the stage of being able to "self-accumulate" knowledge (rather than needing to be taught each item of behaviour.  Before then it was very hard to get her to understand an instruction and to carry it our ..... now she rarely needs any explanation and she's very good at following instructions.  Before she was unable to anticipate the need for actions ..... now she can work out actions that she needs to do ... and complete them with little assistance.

Moon ..... I've just been researching the effect of the moon on behaviour ..... it's verrrrryyyy interesting!  There are many learned opinions about why this cannot be so .... without any factual basis for the opinion ..... and many, many, many observations that the effect is real.  The effect is allowed for in police duty rosters, in medical workers and many parents.  I'm afraid that I have to side with the observations ..... in the early days I was a sceptic and scoffed the idea .... but the effect has been absolutely consistent for years for us ..... we can plan much of our activity based on the knowledge that Kaylia's behaviour will follow the same pattern over the 3 or 4 days around the full moon.

For me, I can't explain it but I know it is fact.

#902 Thursday 2 May

After a very good night (where she slept well for over 12 hours) Kaylia is very happy.  This morning she and Brynn have gone off to explore the local historical feature ... the Mountain Quarry ..... where the rock for building the  Eastern Railway was excavated [1890 - 1954 traffic ceased, 1965/1966 the line was closed and removed] .  It's amazing that it was all done without machinery.
It is a rugged spot that is quite safe and used for local excursions.

#901 Wednesday 1 May

This morning Kaylia has been little Miss Bliss ..... very happy and mellow.  She slept well last night so that could be a factor .... but I still lean toward the growth pains theory.  If it is this, then the pains can 'come and go' and this would explain why she was upset yesterday yet fine today.

During the school holidays, Brynn is carrying the bulk of the load as I am having to be at the Midland office .... so Brynn takes over at 10am.  This morning has been a delightful time for me with Kaylia just lolling around on the bed and enjoying cuddle time.   We're so lucky that she likes to cuddle.

It's the start of a new month .... so I can assess the performance of the blog ....
It's interesting that the average daily 'views' is increasing.  We still have a large readership in eastern Europe .... go figure!

Evening
Kaylia has taken herself off to bed .... at 6:30! No ... she's up again ..... she says that she's having play time.

#900 Tuesday 30 April

What a night .... bad! Not much sleep. We think that Kaylia is in a growth spurt and experiencing bad growth pains. When she does sleep, she is very restless and flings herself around. When she's awake it's as though she's in high anxiety. It's not fun.

Afternoon
Therapy is on now and she's happy! She's had a good day with Brynn. It seems as though the return to normal routine did the trick. Whiteman Park is a treasure during these holidays .... she loves the darkness and quiet of the "movie room". The idea of making a similar place at home is interesting but it's highly likely that she wouldn't accept it because its not in the right place!

#899 Monday 29 April

She DIDN'T sleep last night .... she woke at 2am and was awake till 6:30! It was a long night. She was very happy and well behaved .... just awake. The hardest part is that I drift in and out of sleep .. never properly sleeping.

Today is therapy. She's been into the city on the train today and spent time in the fountains again. Brynn is bearing the brunt of the holiday as I'm back at work in the business office again .... Sanggar finishes up this Friday and I'll fill the accountant role again for a while.

#898 Sunday 28 April

It's been a good day .... Sundays are Aunty Moo days. Kaylia is enjoying these more and more and as we were leaving she says "Stay?".

We then had some play time at the office and I'd venture this was the best "solo play" session she's had .... she entertained herself for about 90 minutes and she was really mellow.

Tonight we had strawberry sponge cupcakes .... and you should have seen her! I was too slow with the camera but she had chocolate icing from ear to ear! It was quite a sight.

Now .... after tea..... it's shower time. Her ritual says that she must have this after tea .... followed by playtime in bed with mummy and daddy before sleep.

TV time. ...... Brynn doesn't like spiders!!!!
I just had to rescue her from a HUGE huntsman that appeared on the lounge next to her.

This is not THE spider "that sat down beside 'er" ..... but it's about the same size.  When I persuaded it to climb onto my book, it was about one third of the page in size.  We're fortunate that they're friendly guys ..... and useful to have around.
