#1218 Friday 4 September

Spa progress
The spa is now full and pumping .... a solar heating system is in place but we're currently lacking sun to do the heating!  Strangely Kaylia has not shown much interest .... I think that because she couldn't use it as soon as it came home, she thinks that it won't be usable.

Step project.  This has now passed the halfway stage and it's literally turned the corner.  We have about 3 steps to go for it to reach the top.
So far 13 steps have been built.  Callum is gaining valuable experience and confidence.  Today we have about 1,000 paving bricks to collect .... free.   I guess this project would cost thousands of dollars if we'd had someone build it for us .... but the 'freebies' section of Gumtree is great!

#1217 Thursday 3 September

It's 8am and we've just said goodbye to Kaylia as Hannah and Callum take her off to school.  Kaylia is so happy and relaxed.  She gave us a good, loud "Bye Mummy" as she sat in the car.  It's so good.

Today Naomi and I will go to Ballajura Community College to see if it's an option for Kaylia for next year.  Previously we had two schools applied for ..... Kalamunda and La Salle in Midland.  Kalamunda has been eliminated and it appears that La Salle is not going to offer her a place. So the next option is BCC.  This is more years of a long drive to school..... but it has advantages ..... many of her current school mates will be there, it has some very good school practices which will suit Kaylia.   So we will check it out.

#1216 Tuesday 1 September

Today Kaylia is at school in "costume" .....

I try to avoid non-Kaylia news ...... but I'm really puzzled.  In last night's news we learn that .....
1. Justice Heydon is considered to be of a higher level of intelligence because he doesn't understand how to use a computer to write his own email.
2. That he is of such a higher level of intelligence that he can assess his own behaviour and whether his behaviour would be considered to be biased by a reasonable lay person.
3. He considers that being a speaker at a Liberal Party fundraising event is not a reasonable sign of bias.
4. Therefore if a lay person perceives him to be biased then that lay person is not reasonable.
5. Does it not follow then that Justice Heydon would think that if a person is able to use a computer for email then that person cannot form a reasonable opinion?

What a strange world we live in.

#1215 Monday 31 August

Happy Birthday Anne!

..... and this is copied from Naomi .....
For those who know and love Kaylee - I just thought I would let you know what's on her playlist at the moment.
In no particular order...
1. Jarryd James - Do you Remember?
2. Taylor Swift - Twenty Two (preferably over and over and over...)
3. Katy Perry - Roar (yep, she's still keen on this one)
4. Maroon Five - One more night (AKA the "woo hoo" song)
5. Rihana and Eminem -The Monster (don't know why but she digs it)
6. Imagine Dragons - On top of the world
7. Tove Lo (Hippie Sabotage Remix) - High (really likes this one)
8. Flo Rida - Whistle Baby (let's face it anything with Flo Rider)
9. Olly Murs & Flo Rider - Trouble Maker (...see what I mean...)
10. Justice Crew - Que Sera

Take all of the above and intersperse with The Wiggles (Sam and Greg versions only), anything from Toris Amos (I have such a cool daughter) and random nursery rhymes and you'll have a Kaylee experience.
I love that she has such an eclectic mix of favourites. Fortunately she has no idea what half the lyrics mean...she just digs the musicality of it all.

#1214 Sunday 30 August

Another full moon is nearly over.  The usual effect for Kaylia has been noted ..... and this time I took note of other people too.  I noticed that most of the people I listened to had also had poor sleep and disturbed nights.  I didn't ask .... just noted the comments made .... so I wasn't influencing the opinions.

I think these times are unprecedented in history .... I can't think of another time when we have seen such a mass migration of people ..... Kaylia is going to grow into adulthood in a very different world.

Evening:   She has such a sense of humour!  As part of our bedtime routine Naomi always tells the story "Little Red Ridinghood" and in her version Will the Woodman has a BIG SHINY AXE!  Just now we were sitting on the lounge and Teddy was doing his barking thing outside ..... Kaylia pipes up "Teddy! Big shiny axe!"
