#1223 Friday 11 September

What a character!  Kaylia is fast developing into a "normal" child!  This morning I went down to wake her for shower time ..... she was sitting on her bed ...... and suddenly pulled the bedding over her head.  She had a very cheeky grin when I started to pull them off .... and the game continued past the point of ceasing to be funny .... just the way it would normally go at her age!

I have high hopes for the person she will grow into..... I think we've given her a really good foundation to becoming a very happy person.

Happy birthday to Hannah! She's 23 today.   We had cheesecake for tea ..... something new for Hannah and Callum.

#1221 Tuesday 8 September

Oooo ..... the adrenalin is rushing!   The "freebies" on gumtree has given a possibility of gaining 5 lengths of galvanised steel beam ..... 5.5m long.  It's too early in the morning to call the advertiser ...... so I must wait till a respectable time.   The "freebies" is great!

..... and I came down the stairs at 7am ..... keen to call and see if the steel was available ...... and I missed a step and fell down the stairs!   No damage fortunately.

..... Oh - the steel?  I missed out. I was caller #2.

Evening:  Kaylia has just finished the therapy session .... she's enjoying it but as with all routines, she is always keen for the next thing ..... "therapy finish??"

I've done another step on that project today .... it's going well and there's only one or two steps to go.

#1219 Sunday 6 September

Kaylia has been drunk with happiness today ..... it's delightful.  It began at 3am .... she  was probably woken by being cold .... and when I settled her back to sleep she snuggled in with her "anaconda" grip .  Then when she came upstairs at 7:30 she snuggled in with both of us and she was so happy.  It's a lovely "present" for Fathers Day!

The visit to Ballajura Community College on Thursday went well and we were both happy for Kaylia to go there for high school.  ..... assuming they offer her a place!  Several of her current class-mates will be going there so it will be good for her.  The travel is only a few minutes further than her present school .... so we can handle that OK.

This evening we have homemade pizzas!  It's a Sunday tradition for us .... the pizza base is made with gluten free flour and the toppings are all unprocessed .... minimal free-glutamates.  This diet really seems to be making a difference for Kaylia.   It's not going to make her autism suddenly disappear but it seems to be helping with her behaviour and anxiety issues.  I feel that the diet is one of many factors that are making her happy.
