#813 Saturday 8 February

Life continues it's pleasant course .... Kaylia has had a brilliant first week at school .... school did an excellent job of transitioning her into the new class ..... 

Kaylia's development continues to delight us.   In some ways it's as though the worst aspects of autism have dropped off the picture and left us with a delightful child who (despite being years behind her peers in development) is loving life.

It's a stunning testament to the effectiveness of ABA therapy.

Afternoon
She's had a morning at the zoo with Chris & Lara .... and then some hose time .... and now she's on the computer with 'Play School' .... the app - not the TV program.  Naomi will be home from work soon and we'll all go off for a shopping trip.  We're down in the basement as I write and I can use the ipcam to watch for Naomi to arrive  ... it's a very handy gadget.

#812 Thursday 6 February

She's had another good day ..... she's still very excited to be going to school.  Lara reported that yesterday during school time she needed a playground break .... the staff said "OK .... 3 minutes .... with a timer."  She was back inside as soon as the timer went off!  What a good girl!

Today Naomi and I had a day together and we dropped her off at school .... once she was in the classroom,  she really wanted us to go!  You could just see her wanting to say "Come on mum and dad .... you're not supposed to be here.  Off you go."

#811 Wednesday 5 February

Well .... it was a good run of dry nights.  She had a lot to drink yesterday and even a humungus wee at 11pm didn't do the trick!  Ce la vie.

Evening

Another good day!  She is really loving being back at school. In the morning she wants to be in the car as soon as she finishes eating her breakfast.... and at night she just wants to talk about going to school tomorrow.

#810 Tuesday 4 February

After her first day at school she was over-tired ... and hyper!  At bed time she was twitching all over the place.  Eventually we resorted to melatonin to get her into the sleep groove.  It works well provided that it isn't used too often.  This morning she finished her breakfast ... and then wanted to be in the car straight away!  I used the opportunity to teach her how to pack her school bag .... that if something won't fit in, you find out why ... you don't just push harder!

#809 Monday 3 February

Phew .... it's over .... school holidays that is.  Life can return to normal again.  I always heave a sigh of relief at this time .... and I expect that if we could hear them, most parents of school kids would be doing the same.

Afternoon
She had a very good day and came home very happy.  She is in the middle of therapy at the moment.  When Alison arrives, we get Kaylia to greet her at the door ..... all the way up the stairs Kaylia was rehearsing "Hullo Alison ...... Hello Alison ...." .... then she opens the door and she says "Hello Kayllia!" ..... ah well.

#808 Sunday 2 February

After another very good night ..... she's spoiling us ..... we went out to the lake ..... only to find it closed because the water is too warm!  So it was home to the hose.  This afternoon we have a small family birthday for Kaylia at Aunty Mim's

Evening

She had a good time .... some cool water toys that had her in the bath pronto to try them out ... and as soon as we got home, it was out to the hose area with the new toys!

Now it's rest time to get ready for the first day of Year 5 at school.
