#1845 Saturday 14 July

It's been an interesting day today ..... after bath #1, Kaylia and I set off at 9:30am for the obligatory car drive .... we first went to Anne's to collect an album of photos from my stationary engine days ... more on those later.  Then it was over to see Maxine .... bath #2 ....... then we drove up to Joondalup K-Mart to get a hand-held steam cleaner that I'd been hankering after for oven cleaning.  While there we came across a sort of bouncy trampoline thingy ..... Kaylia was entranced!  I asked "Do you want a go?"

Kaylia loved it!

#1844 Friday 13 July

Kaylia is chafing at the bit .... she wants school .... big time!  She has had several therapy sessions at home ... and she loves the sessions ..... but "School on Tuesday??" .... please?

This morning I was outside hanging the washing  .... and the sky went dark ... as if the lights had been turned off.  I thought nothing of it .... clouds!  Then I read that today ... about that time ... there was a total solar eclipse! .... and I missed it ... sort of.

It is Monica's last day today and she returns to the UK next week.  We have found a new person .... Casey the Kiwi!  She is joining us on Sunday.  When she came up to meet us yesterday, Kaylia did her claiming thing ...... all her actions say "You're mine!"

Just imagine ..... children are trapped in the Australian detention camps!
What if all the nations pooled their resources to rescue them.

#1842 Tuesday 10 July

We headed off home early ... but not before Kaylia had he usual bath time!  She was a very happy girl all the way home .... with frequent "School next Tuesday??" ..... and she was delighted that we were responding "Yes! School next Tuesday!"

Last night Naomi and  I put in our bit.

Now we're home ... and Kaylia is in the bath.

#1841 Monday 9 July

Holiday???  .... not much .... it's mostly keeping a lid on Kaylia.   The "Bali at Christmas" chorus is in full force.  She has manipulated us so that we satisfy her needs in a different way!

.... and with the wonders of technology, Naomi manages to do almost as much work as she normally does .... just in salubrious surroundings.  Still ... despite all this ... it's a nice break.

Evening:  We've just returned home after a really pleasant meal at the "Ship Hotel" with Aunty Mim and Uncle Steve.....  it has been a really special time because Kaylia was so 'into it'  .... till recent times we have been unable to go out for a "night out" because  Kaylia just couldn't handle it ..... but tonight she obviously enjoyed the experience.  It was such a pleasant change and it has "made our holiday".

This afternoon, Kaylia was quite uptight and anxious .... I dosed her with painkillers .... this certainly helped but when we watched her eating tonight we realised that she had probably been feeling hunger ..... and she couldn't tell me.  The lack of verbal ability is still a big problem.

In many ways she is really growing up.  Many of her behaviours are very appropriate for her age and it is good to see her being a teenager rather than a child.

#1840 Sunday 8 July

We're off to Busselton this morning.  A little break is always a welcome thing.  Kaylia is quietly excited ..... when she woke this morning and we discussed the coming day, day 'glowed'.

Now at 8:20am she has been in the bath since 7:30.  While she chortles and frolics, I've been working on the accounts .... everything is updated and reported.  Now I'm watching the eBay countdown to 8:38am when the bidding ends on two items .... I'm trying to get an "for parts" laptop ... the same as my favorite laptop .... the Acer Aspire S3 MS2346 .... so that I can practice pulling one to pieces before I tackle my working one.   Ooops .... I'm bidding on two and I've just been out bid on one.

These 'busted' laptops present a challenge to me ... can I rebuild them to be a functional machine .... at an economical price .... will the cost of purchase plus parts still be less the cost of buying a functional laptop?

.... and sheesh .... I didn't get either of the two!  The price snuck over the limit I had placed .... I had found the cost of the parts needed to fix them and I figure that whoever bought them will not be able to repair them at a reasonable price.  Ah well .... keep looking.  I like eBay.
