#788 Saturday 11 January

Kaylia is really into the swing of sleeping in!   During the school holidays there's no need for her to be out of bed at the same time as us .... so we let her sleep as long as possible.  I've found in the past that a late start also helps avert any anxiety attacks .... so the strategy is justifiable!  .... and of course on Saturdays I don't need to be at the office so I'm happy to stay in bed too.

Mid afternoon .... It's B hot!   42 degrees at our place .... it will be much hotter down at Midland.

I've set up a cover over Kaylia's "hose" area so she can play in the shade.

She thinks it's good.  Cool water on a hot day.

#787 Friday 10 January

It was lake time today.  Lara reports that it was highly appreciated.  It's a beaut spot.

When it took over for "the afternoon shift" Kaylia an I went down the hill to arrange for the blue car to be assessed for repairs .... we were 'rear ended' last night. Fortunately the guy the ran into us was very honest and by this morning he had arranged his insurance claim .... so we don't have to pay for repairs.

After tea it was straight upstairs for 'boo banket'!  .... and now she's sorting her huge pile of DVDs .....

#786 Thursday 9 January

It's been another good day ..... a happy girl .... no anxiety ... no nagging .... it's great!  This afternoon we all jumped in the car and went to "The Chocolate Factory" ..... Kaylia loves it there and she remembered when she played in the gardens and we gave her "whizzy-whizzies" .... she's too big to do it now but she still remembers.

After tea it was time to paint fingernails and toenails .... she was so excited and she had to go to each of us in turn to show them.

#785 Wednesday 8 January

It's 3:30am ..... she wet the bed an hour ago .... then she was thirsty and drank nearly a litre of water!  So we have to stay awake for a wee run in a little while.  Naturally she is wide awake and I'm struggling to keep her quiet so Naomi can sleep.  The joys of parenting!

Breakfast:  ooohh ... wot a nite!!  She didn't sleep after 3am .... so neither did I.  I should have just got up .... the drifting on the edge of of sleep is baaaad.

Bed time .... at 7:30 we're both nodding off .... early night tonight.

#784 Tuesday 7 January

Today Lara has taken her for a walk .... then hose time .... then to the park .... 

Once again it's hard to believe just how happy she is!  It makes the years of hard work worthwhile .... and it creates a dilemna .... she is really good company now .... looking after her is a pleasure.  I'm starting to feel jealous of the "Kaylia time" that we miss.

Evening:  we've just had a "boo banket" session .... Kaylia lies on the bed while Naomi and I flick the blanket up and down .... she gets very excited by this!  Then it was reading time .... many readings of "Where is the green sheep?"

#783 Monday 6 January

It's been a good day .... it ended with a fly-swatting competition with the electric zappers we brought back from Bali.  (These are like a small tennis racquet that has a high voltage grid .... ZAP!!) Chris has gone mad with it .... chasing flies round the house!

Kaylia had a day at the library ... the beach.... then home where she spent about 3 hours playing under the hose.  She loves water!

#782 Sunday 5 January

WB.  6:30am. She's been awake for half an hour ... it doesn't look as though we'll be able to sleep in this morning!  This past week we think that Kaylia has been having another "growth spurt" and it has meant that she has slept a lot .... since Naomi has been on holiday, it's been convenient .... lots of "sleep in".   The growth spurt is also producing the bouts of growth pains .... short periods of strong pain.   

Evening:  it was another "Aunty Day" .... It was good for us to catch up ... and for Kaylia to fit the world into her routine .... making sure everything and everyone was in the right place doing the right thing!

Now tea is over ... Kaylia has had shower time and it's "dingle dangle" time on the bed while watching a DVD .... then it will be bed time.
