#1801 Saturday 28 April

Kaylia is "happy as Larry" ..... in the bath singing her head off.

.... but this post is NOT about Kaylia ....

In this morning's ABC news:
"Telstra has been ordered to pay a $10 million penalty after its billing charges potentially misled more than 100,000 Australians, in a Federal Court judgment handed down on Thursday afternoon, making it the equal biggest payout on record under consumer law.
Telstra previously admitted to misleading customers by charging them for content they didn’t know they had bought, such as games and ringtones, through a premium direct billing arrangement"

In other words .... one of Australia's biggest corporations has been convicted of a crime .... fined $10million and ordered to apologize to the victims and offer a refund of the money stolen from the individuals ......

However, this criminal organization ..... after paying the fine and the refunds .... is still estimated to make $45million profit from this one criminal activity.

Now what lesson do you think they have learned?  Crime is clearly very profitable!!  Do you think they will stop their criminal activities?  Not likely.

#1800 Friday 27 April

4 days to go!  It's still "School on Tuesday?" but it's only 4 days and she is saying "I feel excited."

She had therapy today .... the team is working on a new program for her.  So many of the possibilities are limited by her lack of imagination.  This is not the normal saying "You've got no imagination!" .... Kaylia literally cannot imagine something that is not in front of her ...... a child can normally imagine that a doll has a personality....  and can imagine the doll doing certain actions ... eg walking, sitting.
.... but for Kaylia the doll is always just a lump of colored plastic.  It is never a character.    For years we have pondered the problem of trying to create imagination in her mind.  This is because much of our learning process depends on being able to imagine.

Today the team discussed a new idea ..... the idea seemed good till we realised that the end result of the process in this idea .... would be that Kaylia learned the next thing by rote!  It would not be imagination in play ... just rote learning.  Back to the drawing board.  This problem has been an issue for 10 years now .... and we still haven't found the key.

Now that the 'bungalow' moving project has been completed, it is appropriate to attach a plaque acknowledging the contributions from helpers over the past months......

It says

Room Move.
Over October 2017 to February 2018 this room was moved 3.5 metres toward the house.  The assistance of the following people was invaluable.
Site preparation and foundation construction
Nita and Sverrin    Andrew and Catriona
Actually moving the room in February 2018

#1799 Tuesday 24 April

Well !  .... she must have been worn out yesterday at Friendship Club ..... Kaylia slept like a log till 11am this morning!  She really loves FC and I think her excitement drains all the energy out of her.

She is now less than a week till school and she's excited!  The refrain is now "School next week!"

Straws for fangs!   The plastic vampire.

#1798 Sunday 22 April

We're home again ... and very glad to be home!

Last night was a shocker ..... both Kaylia and Naomi were sick all night.  Kaylia began vomiting about 9pm and continued till about 2am .... Naomi began at 10pm and continued with half hourly bouts all night.  There wasn't sleeping through the night.  Most of the time Kaylia managed to get to the bathroom in time ...... but then she messed up the bed big time .... and we found that the units don't have any spare linen in the rooms!!  I rang their 24hr helpline but that didn't work as the 'on call' person couldn't contact any of the local staff to ask them to help!  So we ended up trying to sleep on a bare mattress .... and hoping that there would be no more mishaps.

Fortunately I missed the wog and the only explanation we had was I had eaten  a different sort of ice-cream after tea.  We had all eaten the same tea and afterward we had an ice-cream .... Naomi and Kaylia had the same sort.

The drive home this morning was very quiet with both Naomi and Kaylia asleep most of the way.  During the drive the skies opened up and it POURED with rain.  I had to slow right down and have the wipers on full steam  .....  I haven't seen rain like that in a long time.

We reached home around 1pm and Teddy was very happy to see us.
