#1340 Saturday 10 September

Sleep in Saturday .... Naomi has gone to Bali till Tuesday .... so Kaylia and I have a few days of just us!  Klara and Rebecka have departed on their adventure.  They've bought a car and camping gear .... their plan is to head north while the weather is cool.  Bon voyage!

We currently have three couples that are interested in joining us.  All are from UK ... so here's hoping!

#1339 Friday 9 September

I noticed this morning that Kaylia is becoming much more aware of her surroundings .... she had opened the car door to put her bag in .... and as she walked around to the other side, she noticed that she hadn't closed the door .... and she went back to close it.  In past times she would not have been aware that the door wasn't closed.

#1338 Thursday 8 September

She slept!  She was a tired girl last night and settled to sleep by 7pm.

The morning pre-school routine is very pleasant these days .... she's rarin' to go and can't wait to get into the car with her headphones on .... in the groove!

Today is the last day for Klara and Beck .... they head off on their adventure tomorrow.

..... and I get to do the school run for a while.  I like that .... cos in her own way .... Kaylia is good company.  She doesn't say much but I can tell that she likes having me around.  You have to watch closely to see the little signs ..... the big signs are when she's stimming and she puts in "Happy" .....

This blog is turning into an interesting thing .... it began as therapy for Naomi and I  .... then it grew into a record for Kaylia in the future ..... now we get snippets of feedback on the grapevine that suggestions are being made (to parents of children on the spectrum) that the blog is a good thing to read .... to see what life is like with an auty one.

In the early days I used to talk about the way that it is very hard for people to understand autism .... that hasn't changed much over the years.

#1337 Wednesday 7 September

It was a windy stormy night and Kaylia didn't sleep well.  She was up 3 times before settling at 1am.  The first two times I woke and went down .... The third time I was too deep in sleep and Naomi went down.  I hope Kaylia has an ok day at school.

She's back in "happy mode" at the moment.  When she has us gathered on the bed, she hummms and sings away .... with random words thrown into the mix .... and every now and then she says "Happy!"

On the health front, the change to Seroquel has had a good effect on her weight .... at the change to Seroquel her weight was 78kg ...... after a month it has dropped to 73kg!  This is good.  The real test will be when we do some more blood tests ..... she was heading toward health problems but if her weight gets down to a healthy level, it should make a big difference.

#1336 Tuesday 6 September

It's usually a battle to get Kaylia to speak in a normal voice volume and tone ...... not so last night!  She arrived home from school and after being greeted, she responded in a BIG voice "Great! How are you?".  It really surprised us.

There are frequent signs that she is developing ..... most of the time she's still a little girl in a big body ..... but there are hints that a grown up Kaylia is around the corner.

#1335 Sunday 4 September

Father's Day .... Kaylia had made a gorgeous card

..... and a bottle of sauce!  What sort?  I'll have to wait and see!

Then it was off to breakfast at Macca's ....

......followed by a stop at Bunnings to collect my prearranged "present".  It's a cordless circular saw.  Very well made .... 5 year warranty!

After that it was a drive over to see Maxine ...... then a visit to the op shop.

Now we're home again ..... and I'm waiting for the guy to come and collect the chainsaw ..... it's sold already.
