#712 Saturday 29 Sept

Naomi is not well.  The dreaded lurgie has struck and she slept all morning.  All her appointments for today have been cancelled.  She is not well ... poor thing!

I have sold something else .... an old engine that I found 11 years ago .... I had plans to revive an old hobby and restore it to its 'former glory' .... I got it running and then it has been sitting there ever since.  It's a Rosebery/Buzacott 4 hp hopper cooled engine  ... the sort used to power the early saws that were used before chainsaws were invented.. The buyer is coming to pick it up in half an hour.
In the 90's I had many similar engines .... mostly restored ... and I used to go to shows to display them.

Kaylia has had the morning at the Waves Pool and now they've gone off to Mundaring.

#711 Friday 28 Sept

It's cold this morning!

Afternoon
The fire is alight and the house is warming up.  I've decided that my stored supplies of timber may as well be used to keep us warm ... I'm unlikely to use the timber supplies to build 'wonderful projects' in the future ... so I gave the newly found saw  a workout this afternoon ... firewood supplies!  Not quite instant but close enough.

Kaylia has just gone down to the skate-park with Kat and AJ .... all the social prompting is beginning to work.  She needs less and less reminders to speak in a sentence.  Gee it's hard work.  She 'trains' us too well .... so we know what she means when she say one word.  Now we have to teach her that she really does need to say more than just one word.

#710 Thursday 27 Sept

I got caught at school this morning ..... while Kaylia and I were waiting before school, the rain began pelting down ... so heavy that I took shelter in the classroom and had to wait there till the rain eased off. Kaylia actually wore a jumper this morning .... that's how cold it was! Kaylia usually refuses to wear a jumper .... she's the proverbial 'hot water bottle'!

#709 Wednesday 26 Sept

It was our "night out" last night .... Kaylia slept well. She is getting used to the idea that we go out at times ... it's good respite .... it's taken years to get to this point but it's good that we can now 'take a break'. Thanks AJ. The movie was b.a.a.a.d.d.d!! A zombie flick. The night was 'made' by finding $20 note on the footpath! It paid for the nibbles in the movie.

Then during the night I woke with a really bad cramp .... I had realised during the day that I wasn't hydrating well enough ....and then at midnight I paid the price! The cramp was one of the worst I've ever had and it took ages to go away. It was a salutary lesson!

Later
I'm drinking lots of water!  .... and I've been researching leg cramps ..... clearly there are many people much worse off than me!  I found one website that had many, many posts from sufferers ..... I'm VERY healthy compared with nearly all of them!  There's a lot of "quackery" out there .... and very little information from the medical community.  I guess this means that the doctors don't know of any definite solution.  I tell you what ... getting older doesn't have many positives .... and it has heaps of negatives!

#708 Tuesday 25 Sept

Yes ... a flaming good time has been had!  I spent today burning anything flammable and not saleable.  Zoe was most impressed.  In the sorting process I found a 210mm circular saw that I have been looking for for about 8 years!  That's a telling comment on the state on my shed!

I burned years and years of tax records .... wow ... what a bonfire. It's worth noting that lounge furniture is highly flammable .... It's a worry that we all have such things inside our homes! It burns at such a high temperature that if it were to start burning inside your house, you couldn't stop the house burning too!

Kaylia is off at the swimming pool with AJ.  We began her on the 'Level 2' constipation treatment yesterday ... Naomi is pondering just how much effect the pain has been having on her anxiety levels.  Time will tell as the treatment takes effect.

#707 Monday 24 Sept

It's now 5:30am .... we've been awake since 4. Just a bad sleep pattern .... going to bed too early so we wake up early.

My theory about anxiety? The answer is that autism and anxiety often go together but they aren't always both there .... children with autism often don't have the anxiety that Kaylia has. It's just the way it works for her.

Afternoon News .... she is still badly constipated and this is causing the pain!  The current treatment plan has to be ramped up to 'Version 2'!!
.
Today I have been in the shed!  The first time in a long ... long .... long .... time.  Sweeping, tidying .... I plan to have a garage sale next month and so much preparation is needed.  We've also found that burning permits are not needed for a week!  A 'flamin good time' is planned!

#706 Sunday 23 Sept

Despite another wet bed it was a good night .... it was a cold night so instead of it being a battle to keep some blanket, she was actually a cuddly hot-water bottle! Usually she gets too hot and kicks the blankets off .... this is quite an unpleasant shock when I'm in a warm sleep.

Today is the one day that Naomi isn't working .... so we do things together. Usually it's pool time but today there's a 'car boot sale' in Mundaring. It will be an outing. Kaylia will be able to look for dingle-dangles!
