The trio are off down at the beach in Freo.  Since it's a 'dog beach' Teddy has been given a treat too!  He will be very happy.

Kaylia has won another award at school .... for accumulated good behaviour points. This is the second time in the past few weeks and it shows how much she's enjoying school.  Lara reports that she is always very excited during the drive to school.  Last year was a bad year for her .... one of the other kids in the class would scream for no reason .... and that's just what Kaylia can't handle.  So her excitement on the drive to school disappeared.  But the excitement is back!  Yay!

It's getting harder to find the content for the blog .... I have been trying to write about unusual events and situations and life with Kaylia has settled into a pleasant routine.  (Are there any particular things that you want to see in this blog? Make a comment.)   
Now there's a topic!  Routine!
I have just received an invitation to a seminar on ASD at Curtin Uni ..... I could possibly go to the seminar ... but such events always need to be weighed  up .... will it disrupt her routine?  .... and is the disruption to Kaylia's routines worth the benefits?

Although our life is currently very pleasant, there is still compromise in many areas of our life.  Many of the compromises are for work .... but even these are modified to fit Kaylia.

Kaylia had quite a bad night.  She woke at about 1am and then was awake for a couple of hours.  She is such a good girl .... she was asking for her iPad but I told her that it was time to sleep .... so she tried and tried.  She is very quiet at these times so she doesn't disturb Naomi.  I'm often awake and I wonder if my being awake makes it harder for Kaylia .... so I keep very still ..... but it doesn't seem to help her.

For all the fans of Teddy .... he had another haircut on Saturday .... so he's taut and trimmed and terrific again!

I may be wrong but I feel as if the weather is the driest I've ever know in this part of the state ..... we have a silver birch tree in the yard and it's usually green and  in full leaf now .... but I noticed that it looks very sad and nearly all its leaves are on the ground.  When I look round the other trees they also look as if they're really suffering.

 .... but Mr Rabbit says it ain't so .... so I must be imaginating.

Therapy continues to go really well. It's so pleasing to all involved.  She loves playing card games .... and she's starting on playing hide n seek.

We're down at the beach for a morning swim before packing up .... and there's a humungus swimming race on!


 The swimmers were doing what appeared to be a 2km swim.  They are the sphashy things in the centre of the photos.

While in the water, Chris, Kaylia and Naomi were quite close to the swimmers.

Chris was set upon by a crab!  It attempted to remove a toe ... but it didn't succeed.

Later during therapy ....

Twice over this weekend I have noticed Kaylia offering something to another person without any prompting.  I think this is significant as it means that she is both aware that the person is there and also being considerate of their needs.  While this may be normal behavior.... for an "auty one", it's quite unusual.

 Today we are going to Rockingham and we'll stay overnight in the same place where I can remember staying about 60 years ago!  (It turned out to be a different spot ... but it was good.)
At that time there was a dentist on the ground floor ... and a visit to that man has instilled a lifelong phobia for "the dentist".

Fortunately Kaylia has had the opposite experience .... she absolutely loves going to the dentist!  Her next visit is in two weeks!

Afternoon ..... we're in residence after a swim and a drive round Rockingham ... looking at Florence St where I lived when I was Kaylia's age.  The place we are in is on the fourth floor and has unlimited ocean views.
