#1299 Saturday 19 December

Kaylia's primary school phase of life is now over.   Next month she will be 12 years old and her high school experience will begin.  I fervently hope that this next phase is as positive and enjoyable for her!  We will always be grateful to the South Ballajura ESC for their role in making life so happy for Kaylia.  I will never forget the time in the whole of her Year 3 when she would literally dance with excitement while we drove to school. Her daily excitement never really faded since then.

Yesterday I was in the chemist shop waiting for a prescription ...... and I noticed a rack of educational construction type gifts ...... I pondered how these gifts have little relevance for Kaylia because of the level of imaginative ability they require.   I realized that so many of the things we do or think about ... require a lot of imagination just for the thought process!  To try to imagine life without imagination ...... that is very difficult.

#1298 Tuesday 15 December

Graduation Day!  It was really good ..... Kaylia really understood and was overcome with giggles when her certificate was presented.
The school has been really good for Kaylia and I'm so glad that she has had such a happy experience during her years there.

Kaylia is 4th from the right in the second row ..... she's standing in front of the principal!

#1297 Monday 14 December

Kaylia sometimes utters hilarious little gems .... tonight she had just thrown her tea scraps overboard for the birds and she waltzed back inside .... obviously pleased with herself ...... and she says "There you go Mama!!"  It was perfect diction and context ..... and we fell over laughing.

Here's one for Teddy's fans .....

..... he loves to sleep on our shoes!

#1296 Sunday 13 December

I actually got Kaylia reading the time this morning!   She'd wet the bed at 4am so I took her back downstairs .... after a couple of hours she was asking to go back upstairs so I directed her to the clock and she was able to read it .... and she got the relationship between the current time and the time to target.

She's very excited about the staff party .... it will be interesting to see how she copes.

Later
We've had the staff party at our place this evening with 15 adults and 5 children ..... lots of noise ..... and kids in her space .... but Kaylia coped magnificently.   What progress!
