It's good to be home.   Kaylia is clearly happy to have everything back to normal.   .....

Last night, I had brought home some little gifts and without thinking, I gave Kaylia a little pewter dragon on a keyring ..... Well!  I'd forgotten about dingle-dangles!  She thought it was great and it dingle dangled for the rest of the night.

#848 Wednesday 19 March

There was a bit of excitement this morning .... Ketut found another snake.  It's harmless ... a Golden Bronzeback .... but I had some fun researching the snake varieties in Bali to identify it.


As you can see, it's about 40cm long ... the website says that at this size it is a baby and it still hasn't eaten.  It doesn't eat till after it has molted its skin the first time.  Ketut released it outside the house yard in a tree.

I did think of bringing it back to Perth for Chris but I think customs might get a bit upset!!

There are several dangerous snakes found in Bali but they are usually found in non-urban areas.





Last night we had our usual Skype call .... and when the time came for Kaylia to settle, she asked for the routine of the three bed-time stories .... and I had to join in too.  She has accepted that even when I'm away, I can still be part of her bed-time routine via Skype.   .... and it is teaching her to be much more vocal on Skype.


I've had a "builders moment" this morning ..... we've had a few complaints about bad smells in Bathroom 2 .... so I investigated. 
From the villa plans I found out that the hi-tech "Bio-Save" sewage treatment system has a vent .... so I went looking for the vent .... and what do you know!!  The builders didn't finish the vent!  It opens to the air just below the bathroom window!  No wonder a smell was evident.  Ketut will finish the vent and extend it above the roof line.  The builders were really amazingly bad!

Ok ... OK .... when we're at an appropriate moment ... I will turn Skype on and see who is online!  AJ - you'll probably get first go as you seem to be online a fair bit.

I had fun yesterday .... watching the comings and goings at home via the IPCam.  (I can access the camera wherever I am .... )  I watched Kaylia going out to greet Alison for the therapy session .... and Chris is currently painting the front walkway so I could watch that too!

I've just found out that the pressure pump ... which provide the water supply at enough pressure for showers etc .... is faulty again.  It could be a simple job ... or it could mean another new pump.  I'll wait and see.  There are quite a few small electrical problems this time.

Another problem this time is the internet .... the villa wifi is playing up.  I have internet access ... I'm writing the blog OK .... and I can use Skype .... but anything related to Google just brings up error messages.  So no email!  I have to use my phone network to check email.  I'll get this fixed pronto as guests would be annoyed with it as it is.

8am  I just waved goodbye to Kaylia as she goes off to school with Lara.  And .... I can see why Teddy goes mad barking at times ....I've just seen the cat walk up to the front door and check him out!  Smart cat ... knows he is safe from the dog.

10:30am  The Gmail problem is fixed .....   and Ketut has learned how to adjust the pump ....  so that is working too.

#846 Monday 17 March

Well!  I've just finished a Skype call with Naomi and Kaylia ..... and Kaylia was really participating well.  She was telling me about her new dingle-dangle .... and we all had to do the nightly routine of the three stories together .... and then at the end she joined in the various goodnights in a big, clear voice.  What a huge lot of progress.  She is about ready for some Skype time with Zoe and AJ and Brynn etc!  We just have to get the world time clocks to align.

#845 Sunday 16 March

After a flight that was memorable for the nerve pain in my leg, I headed off for massages today .... and it feels much better.

Kaylia has had a good time at Aunty Stana's ......

It looks like she isn't missing me too much!
