#1686 Saturday 4 November

Kaylia ended up sleeping well despite mummy being away..... and the morning brought "BILGOMEN"..... she was very keen but when they arrived at the pool, she changed her mind!  So a long drive was taken.... York and Northam and back..... and the she was keen to swim.

While all that was going on, I was putting a further two posts in place.  Two more to go and then I'll brace the structure.  The aim is to have it all ready to move by the end of the month.

Naomi is away tonight.... and Kaylia is not sure how to handle it.  Kaylia has been coming out of her room.... then back into her room..... she wanted "stories" and when she realised that mummy wasn't here to do it, she accepted my feeble attempt.  Now she's singing away.... but with the door open!  She is really missing her mummy.

#1684 Thursday 2 November

We noticed yesterday that a family of bobtail lizards had a really good cave just near the entrance bridge.  It is secluded and gives the bobtails very good protection from the birds... their main enemy.

Then today I saw Mr and Mrs Bobtail out for a stroll together!

It's really good to have them with us.

Nita pointed out something very interesting..... that Kaylia has changed her behaviour quite significantly in the month that she and Sverrin have been away.  The "Go!.... and close the door" behaviour has really developed in the past few weeks.   This big change has happened very quickly..... the teenage times are really with us!

#1683 Wednesday 1 November

What a girl!  She can be so much fun to have around.  I really struggle to remember the bad times....

Today A+C are still waiting for their car repairs to be done.... so I made use of the help while it was still available ..... and today we welded two 150 x 75 beams end to end to make one looonngg one.  There will be three of these running the length of the building under the floor.

This morning we were treated to a viewing of a Quenda scurrying round the yard below us.  These little marsupials are usually active at night.. so it was really special to be able to see it in broad daylight.

Kaylia is being taught about email at school.  Her message yesterday was ....

"hi mum and dad

I had a good day. today I did some gardening . I ate all my food today ."

I don't think she's very sure about this ......

...... OK .... it's not too bad.

Nita and Sverrin returned yesterday ..... Kaylia was very excited and in her usual manner she was "swamping them" .... she tries to get as physically close as she can .... and this often means that you have a great weight lying on top of you!

Andrew and Catriona are getting some last minute car repairs done today.  They will probably head off tomorrow on the road to Exmouth etc.  We will see them again in about a month when they pass through Perth on their way south.

Nita and Sverrin arrived back from their travels this morning..... Kaylia has just arrived home from school and she seems suitably happy to see them.

Andrew and Catriona head off on their trip tomorrow..... up to the Pilbara first.

This morning I was working at my desk in the corner of the lounge room and I heard a knocking noise at my feet.... it was a bobtail under the desk!  He had wandered inside and couldn't find his way out.

We took him outside. 

#1680 Sunday 29 October

Today is my father's birthday ... he would be 95 today.  He never had a chance to meet Kaylia but I'm sure he would have enjoyed her just as much as we do.

Andrew and Catriona have been doing great things with the firewood machine ..... splitting blocks of wood and stacking them ready for next winter.  They've done a great job.

 The "house moving" project is progressing well.  Two of the major foundation posts have been set in concrete.  When a further four have been set in place, then all the posts will be braced and cross-braced.  Then the long 6.2metre beams will be fitted.  These run under the length of the building.  After all this preparation, the actual moving of the room can begin.

This morning I was about to set out with Kaylia to visit Aunty Maxine .... Kaylia was in her room playing a game with Catriona.  I said "Do you want to come in the car to Aunty Maxine's?"  "Stay here!" she says.  So the trip was delayed.
