#1766 Saturday 17 February

Project progress.... with the arrival of some serious lifting equipment, half of the roller insertion is now complete.  Rollers are in place under the western three beams.  Now the eastern beams have to be lifted and rollers inserted.  Then the pulling and rolling can begin.

Kaylia was very happy to have me home yesterday.  She immediately went into "after school" mode with lots of flapping.

This morning she said that she wanted a drive..... she was asked where to?  "I don't know." she responded.  This is significant because it shows that she understands the question and has considered her answer..... even though it's a negative one.

#1765 Thursday 15 February

It's raining.

It's 1pm and it's been raining constantly all morning.  Not solid .... just enough that I don't want to go outside seeing there's no pressing need.

Soon I'll start packing for the trip home tomorrow morning. 

Later:  the rain has continued .... so much so that the drainage system can't cope and the waste water .... toilets etc .... are not draining away.  It occurs to me that there are many ways in which the infrastructure of Bali is just not built to cope with the environment.

It's cool and raining ..... it seems to be raining everyday .... this makes it very hard to do much in the way of fixing roof leaks!  The concrete must be dry before the sealant can be applied ...... and if the roof is still leaking then we can't fix the internal water damage or repaint.

#1764 Tuesday 13 February

Another day of assessing maintenance needs and planning.  As usual the water pump is giving trouble and it will probably be a warranty issue.  I had resigned myself to another day of showering under a dribble when someone said "Change these taps."  After working out what he meant I realised that he is a minor genius.... I can bypass the tank pump and instead use the main bore pump till the other is repaired. Brilliant.

Now I'm down on the beach front.... I was hoping to get some photos of the volcano.... but there are too many clouds.

#1763 Monday 12 February

Happy Birthday Pete.

Day 1 back at the villa..... Gee there's a lot of repair work needed.  Lots of painting and other minor work.  It just shows that we can't really afford to let up on the maintenance visits.  The work needed will have to be spread over the next next couple of months.

I arrived around 11pm last night but I had a very poor sleep.... about 3 hours.  I finally got up at 5am and caught up with some work. I hope I sleep better tonight. 

Later:  I've just walked back to the villa after tea ... and at the villa in Jn Mertasari in front of our villa..... is parked a Maserati!  Plus a top model Range Rover!  Talk about an upmarket neighborhood.

#1762 Sunday 11 February

It's 5pm and I'm waiting to board the plane to Bali.  A few days of sorting out maintenance issues at the villa. 

Kaylia was not very pleased when I told her where I was going.  She is still very keen to go to Bali again.  It's not as high in her priorities as school..... but it's fairly constant.
