#1773 Saturday 24 February

You may have heard of the "dirty deeds" our lovely government is proposing .......
If you haven't heard about what the government is attempting to push through parliament in the next few days, then please watch the above!

If you are familiar with it, please share!

How does this relate to Kaylia???
The community bodies which the government is planning to silence are really the only methods by which we can voice an opinion on Kaylia's behalf!

For example, the government callously creates and advertises  benefits supposedly  for children with a disability .. for example the "Dental Benefits Scheme" which provides $1,000 per year for children who have a disability ..... but this scheme deliberately excludes  a disabled child from claiming the benefit by having "fine print" which  prevents the claim!

The hypocrisy of our politicians is appalling  ..... and yet they want to silence any criticism of their actions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enough of the serious stuff ..... what has happened today for Kaylia?

Weeelll .... she began the day at 5am with a wet bed.  I went down to change the sheets but she had wet everything!  So she came back upstairs and hopped in our bed .... and wriggled ...... and wriggled.

Then at 7am it was bubble bath time!  By 9am when Harry and Elle took over, she was primed.  "Drive!" she says.  On Saturdays I get a few hours off.  In the afternoon Kaylia and I 'flop' and wait for Naomi to arrive home from work.  Then it's time for shopping and a BBQ tea.

Project status - 95%

This morning we tried using the tractor to push the room the remaining distance.  It worked after a fashion.  The tractor eventually churned up the soil so much that it couldn't get enough traction.

This is where the room has moved from.

So we stopped for the day and the remaining 20-30 cm will have to be done by using the chain-blocks to pull.  Another day!

In the photo to the right you can see a tree in the right hand side.  The driveway will be moved from the right of that tree to the left.

Kaylia had her visit to the dentist this morning and she was very excited!  There are no problems.... about 12 months ago she had some pre-molars extracted to make room for the new erupting molars.  This strategy has worked and her teeth have all rearranged themselves into a good place.  Dr Camacho is happy with her.

Project status:  about 60%

Harry and I have had a very good morning.... hard work but successful.  The building is now resting entirely on the new steel foundations.

The final stage is to move it a further 1 metre into its final position. This will be done on Saturday.
This afternoon Naomi and I attended a meeting with Kaylia's teacher.  It was great to hear about the way Kaylia is fitting in at school and how she is enjoying her days. We have great anticipation about her future at this school.  It is so good for her.

#1769 Tuesday 20 February

It's 4pm and Kaylia is on the bed.... when she gets home from school she spends about an hour in wind down time.  Since I'm always having my afternoon recovery rest time, this works perfectly with Kaylia singing her head off while I doze.

This morning Harry and I began the room move.  So far it has moved about one metre.

In the photo, you can see the door has moved relative to the 4 bricks where it used to be.

At this rate the move will be completed on Thursday.

#1768 Monday 19 February

This morning Kaylia came upstairs at 5:30am ..... she was told to go back down and come upstairs at 6:30am.   No argument ... she just did it!  She's marvelous.  She clearly has time telling sorted.

Project status:  This morning we lifted the eastern beams 1 and 2 and inserted rollers.  It was hard work because it is the end with little space and so the lifting work must be done lying down ..... no help from the leg muscles!

Tomorrow we can lift the north side of the building and commence pulling it over.  This will be much easier as it doesn't require going underneath the building.

#1767 Sunday 18 February

It's 9:30pm and I've been trying to get Kaylia to settle down to sleep..... but she's too happy!  She is very content and pleased with life.  It's not the excitement that comes as an alternative to the anxiety.... It's genuine happiness.
Today Naomi needed a catch-up rest.... so Kaylia and I went for a looonngg car drive.... we went out to York ... then down to Beverley and back to Perth via West Dale.  I haven't driven that road for 40 years.... but I was able to locate the Morrell farm which Dad would look after  when his friends were away.  I would go out to the farm with Dad and I usually went off into the bush to hunt rabbits with Dad's rifle.  I was able to provide a few meals that way.  Rabbit soaked overnight in lemon juice makes the 'gamey' rabbit into a very good tasting meal.   At the farm, I remember that there were two John Deere tractors in the shed.... they would be real collectors items now.
