#724 Friday 12 October

She's not drinking enough and .... gee it's hard to get her to drink! I think we'll have to resort to "rewards for drinking"!
.
Yesterday I replaced an office chair ....

After tea tonight we went to Macdonalds for an icecream .... poor AJ almost choked on hers!  I thought I was going to need to stop the car and perform emergency surgery!

#723 Thursday 11 October

I am surrounded by games addicts!  Kaylee and I sit together and all round are huddled figures .....
.
Today I tried the AR Drone outside for the first time .... Kaylia loved it!  The batteries failed after a few minutes ...... So it was only a short session .... but it worked well.  The batteries have only been recharged twice so I think it's a warranty claim.
.
Kaylia has been down to the beach often during the holidays.  She's looking forward to school next week .... she doesn't really 'get' the idea of it not being school tomorrow .... she wants her school uniform each night.   She has a routine that before she goes to bed, she gets her clothes ready for the morning ..... and she always wants the clothes to be "school clothes"!

#722 Wednesday 10 October

Today it's the relentless "prompting" battle .... trying to get Kaylia to use her words! Today she was with AJ and was given a chocolate treat. She said "Thankyou AJ" ..... then when no further treats appeared she said a little louder ..... "Thankyou AJ!" ..... Still nothing happened ....... "THANKYOU AJ". !! She's confused.

A.J. Here....... Kaylia understands when she needs to use the words "Thank you" but she also uses them to get me to stop talking! During the school holidays I have been working very hard to get her to use her language when she is speaking to other people and she has had enough of it! She says "thank you " in hopes that is what I want to hear and I will do what she wants without having to use a full sentence! I have taken to "ignoring" some requests in hopes she will "ask better" without prompting... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!!!
.
We spend most of our time either at the beach , pool or lake. I am really enjoying having this one on one time with Kaylee without the time restrictions of school. She makes me laugh all day and her smile is infectious. I did not really believe Ian and Naomi when they said Kaylee would swim right out to the horizon.... Boy was I wrong! Her language is really coming along and it very rewarding to hear the improvements day by day!

#721 Tuesday 9 October

The relentless clearing out process continues .... this morning I have waved goodbye to a truckload of steel ... bits that I have collected over the years ... and now that I no longer have any welding equipment, it has no use.  The back yard looks a bit neater!
.
Kaylia's still resisting the idea of speaking in a sentence.  She has little sparkles of achievement ... such as un-prompted "Thankyou's" ... but we feel like bullies at times ... always insisting on "Use your words."

#720 Monday 8 October

Lil miss changed the routine again last night .... she decided that she wanted Mummy and Zoe for the bedtime session! This period (before actual sleep time) seems to be replacing TV/DVD time ..... she had Wiggles on for a while and then she seemed to become bored ..... "I know! People are more fun."
.
Today? Last week of the school holidays .....
Having an extra helper around has made a big change ..... I usually find the holiday period to be quite physically exhausting ..... this time it has been a big improvement.
.
There was a 'significant event' this morning ..... I had put Kaylia's breakfast on the table and (without any prompting) she said "Thankyou"! I think this is a first!
.
This afternoon we went to Kym's for a therapy session where the boys were to push her to make the correct social interaction. Afterward she was able to have a swim in Kym's pool .... I swear we had to chip a hole in the ice layer so she could get in the water! Kaylia loved it. I cannot fathom (hur hur) how Kaylia can swim in such cold water!

#719 Sunday 7 October

What's the difference between a carer and a jailer? Not much except that the jailer's charge is guilty and the jailer is rewarded for his duty .... while the carer's charge is innocent and the carer is punished for his duty.
.
This morning we had a trip to the E Shed in Fremantle .... Kaylia found a really cool hat......

.... it provides automatic protection against the dreaded "wah-wah" .... the noise of babies that is such a problem for Kaylia. She loves the hat!
