#2074 Friday 18th March

Eureka! Success.  The old landrover drives again after what appears to be a thirty year sleep.   It's history seems to be .....

1961  - new vehicle as a Series 2A Landrover with a 6 cylinder engine. It was probably this owner who devoted huge attention to it.  It was stripped to the bare chassis and the chassis was galvanised to prevent the chassis from ever rusting.  The interior of the cab was lined with felt to reduce noise.  Dual fuel tanks and dual batteries were fitted.  Many extra instruments were added.  All the brakes etc were in good condition at this time.

Maybe 1975?  The Rover 6 cylinder engine was removed and a Holden 173 engine fitted.

Sometime after that it looks as though it was parked  in a shed and left.  Many parts such as the brakes, the clutch, the gearbox .... all just gradually froze into position and it didn't move till I bought it in November 2021.

I've just been for a drive down the track at the rear of our place .... everything works as it should.  High and low range, the handbrake, the new braking system.....  the motor is running well.

Now I can prepare an advert on Marketplace and Ebay.  Since the buyer can actually drive it home (with a movement permit) it should find a new home soon.
