What a strange place the world has become in recent years .... floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, political upheaval. At times it is comforting to remember that the period that we humans have dominated this world is like one second in a day .... all the damage that we do to this planet will probably be a completely irrelevant speck in the totality of time.

The "Nyepi" day in Bali on 5th March will be a good time for contemplation and introspection ... a day of complete silence for a complete community .... wow! What a pity that our community can't do likewise. I now fly to Bali next Wednesday 2nd march and back again on Monday 7th. I'll be staying in Pete's villa in Sanur.

Kaylia is very happy today ... she came home from the school swimming day with a 'First Place' ribbon pinned to her bathers! .... and reports that she was participating! She is doing so well at school. It's hard to remember the Kaylia of two years ago. She clearly loves the power of communication .... it must have been such an isolating thing for her to be unable to communicate her feelings & wants .... now she can tell us what she is feeling, what she wants to do, what she wants to eat ....

.... and speaking of eating .... we've been pleasured tonight with a delicious pasta dish cooked by Zoe. Well done! I'd be pleased to have it served in any restaurant.

This morning we were greeted by the sight of "LOST" notices plasted in strategic places round the house .... Zoe had lost her special ring .... the notices prompted a lot of searching and suggestions. We soon found the ring ... just where she was sure she'd already looked!

.. oh and by the way ... Melatonin .... I went online and found a supplier in Brisbane Qld who sells it without a prescription for one sixth of the price at a chemist! (I wonder just which pockets the price difference goes into?) ... and the message about it only being effective for 21 days? This applies to adults. Apparently, research shows that it remains effective for children with autism.

  1. Yes, the Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times" is coming true. We can only hope that the Middle East finds a Middle Path. What amazing times.
