#703 Thursday 20 Sept

It's early morning ..., it's raining outside and the birds are singing. At this time of the year rain can be warm ... since we now have a family member who likes to go walking in the rain, warm rain can be very nice!
.
Kaylia is spending a lot of therapy time working on speech .... she has reached the stage where she is easily able to speak in complete sentences but she has 'trained' us to understand her if she just says one word. So she just says one word! We now must retrain ourselves to insist that she say the full sentence. It's hard.
.
Yesterday Zoe was introduced to Kaylia at the skate park on her scooter. Her scooter skills are steadily improving. Each time she starts from a little higher on the slope. She watches the other kids on their scooters closely. An interesting development .... she now is less interested in 'scootering' if there are no other kids around! She wants the social contact!

My thoughts are meandering along the path of the nature of autism ... that anxiety is the key factor.  That the preoccupation with the internal world, with stimming .... they are all a response to .... or a defense against anxiety.
.
As we have been able to reduce the anxiety, so the effects of 'A' diminish.  It's a theory ... I'll see what Naomi thinks.
